I have three chicks I hatched almost 3 months ago. They are splash maran roo over salmon faverolle hens and all are blue but I’m not sure if I’ve got 2 roos and 1 hen or 3 roos. All 3 have the start of spurs, the one I think might be a hen is slightly lighter and has a different comb from the...
First time incubating and of 10 eggs I have 3 definitely developing. I kind of figured they may not have been all fertilized because the roo only figure his job out fairly recently but I’m glad it will be a small batch to start with. Hopefully I get three healthy fuzz balls. Dad is a splash...
That tracks, there is a fox in the area, I haven’t seen him for months but he was out in the day light several months ago boldly watching my hens free range about 100 yards away. Guess I’ll be fort knoxing the coop tomorrow, I’m sure he’ll be back.
Went to feed this morning and saw a burst of feathers outside the coop, realize it was the one that likes to fly out of the run, so she must have been outside the coop overnight. I followed a trail of several other feather explosions but could not find a body. No blood evident. It’s just so...
Do chicken breeders keep track of bloodlines to verify breed or is it all based on sop? I have a splash maran rooster and salmon faverolle hens and from what I’ve read if I breed them all the off spring will be blue so I’m wondering if I can create blue faverolles over time this way? I’m...
You know what, they do kind of look like that on closer inspection. One of my girls had her feathers ripped out and that is what it looked like when they grew out. I’m probably over reacting to nothing.
I have a new roo in quarantine but some nodules? scabs? on his feet have me a little worried I may have introduced Mareks to the flock. He was in a pen of about 20 other roos, but everything looked clean and healthy nothing concerning about them. Does this look like injuries from being picked...
Thank you anyway, it is a little farther than I wanted to go, I’m not sure how common these guys are down here, but figured I‘d try before going with a different breed or having to wait for next years babies.
Hello everyone,
posting here and the buy section/mississippi thread since im on the border. I’m searching for a salmon faverolles roo/cockerel, at least 5 months old in the southeast la/south ms area. I lost the one I was raising and i love the temperament of the breed so was hoping to find...
hi all,
Posting here as well as the buy section, I’m looking for a salmon faverolles cockerel/roo in south Mississippi. I lost the one i was raising and I’m putting out feelers for a new guy. At least 5 months old, but older is acceptable.
I lost my salmon faverolle roo that I was raising this year and I’m trying to put out feelers if anyone in southeast Louisiana/south Mississippi has any roos available. I had adored my boy’s temperament and the temperament of my fav girls so I would like more of the same. Preferably they will...
Update on my Betty girl: I did bring her into the vet this morning and she got x rays and the vet will splint the leg so we can see how it heals. He was cautiously optimistic that she could get at least partial use of the leg (more as a crutch than full use). He also said that there is...
It’s completely floppy starting at the knee, like it’s not connected to anything. Above that everything feels solid and she can move it easily. Below the knee she has no control of her foot or toes, they just hang there.
I’m looking at wheelchair making videos, this actually might be feasible for me to do…and I‘m not ready to say goodbye. I might be making a trip to the hardware store rather than the vet tomorrow.
