Yes, it was you. I was drawing a blank last night. I knew it was you or Sally. I would've liked to have a black Australorp rooster. But now I'm thinking I would like to get a speckled Sussex rooster. So I'm going to hold out until next spring and hopefully ffh can order a couple of them along...
:lau:gigWell I guess I can't complain about family farm and home or the hatchery they get their chicks from. 28 out of 28 pullets. And I was hoping to get a cockerel or two. Too bad I didn't get the ones that someone here had just recently. I was holding out, hoping one of those were a cockerel
Full disclosure, I'm not an expert and until this spring I haven't had chickens in twelve ish years. But I've always had roosters in with the flocks that I've had. As long as they weren't aggressive to people or being raised for dinner they got to stay.
Is it just one girl he's picking on? Is...
They won't hate him as they get older. He just needs a little time to finesse his technique. Soon he'll be showing them where the good treats are and such. It's fun to see how the roosters are with the hens. They will let him know when they are ready. I take it that the pullets aren't laying yet?
That's on my someday list of things I want to do. We went to the powwow in Newaygo and the pickin in the pines bluegrass festival in Baldwin this past weekend.
