How much is too much protein during molt?

I increase protein during molt, and I throw in some oats even though its a low protein, and more of a fiber, but I try to mix it up and usually in about 3-4 weeks, molt is over on my end.

    Fermenting Feed for Meat Birds

Thats good to know on the 10 minute rule. I talked to Bee about her FF project, and am getting ready to do that with the next batch. I was going to build something to let them out in, but since they are moving so well, maybe I will buy like that green garden fence thats 2-3 feet tall, and just...

    Fermenting Feed for Meat Birds

A real meat bird cornish, is not going to free range well. For a couple weeks if you are lucky they might scratch around, but even that's not likely. You figure you keep them in a brooder for 3-4 weeks, by the time they come out of that they are probably at least 3-4 lbs,and laziness sets in...

Free Range or Not? What Does Everyone Prefer?

You should not need to worry about predators during the day time so much. If something comes out during the day time, its probably sick or something. A fence would contain the chickens to a smaller area.If a dog comes around, shoot it if it steps on your property as it will kill your birds. As...

Trying To Make Money On Meat Birds

So Arielle, Do you think if you advertised naturally raised free ranged birds for 3.00 lb thats not to exp? I feed organic, BUT I do not pay the 2,000 for the certification, and was told by the State of Ohio Ag Dept. That it would be false advertising regardless what I feed, unless they come...

Raising our 1st set of CX meaties

Did you order them out of a place in NY? I found a place there the cheapest, than I found I could buy expandable vacuum seal bags so I never used the shrink bags. My big problem was I did not have a pot deep enough to stick turkeys down inside. Let me know how the process goes on the shrink wrap...
