What did you do in the garden today?

Half the raised beds are close to being put to bed for the winter. I trimmed off all the chives and pruned back the oregano, lemon balm and tarragon. Then I took the hoe and the rake to two beds, weeded them and leveled the soil. I'll let the upcoming atmospheric river settle the soil then I'll...

What did you do in the garden today?

Thanks for the pic. They look a lot like regular green onions, just a little bigger. I think my grandparents called them spring onions. They're probably too fibrous to work in a garlic press. I'm going to mow the lawn for the last time today.

How big do the walking onion bulbs get? Small enough to fit in a garlic press?

    Very dark yolks

Have you seen this thread? It mentions that a weed called shepherds purse, raw acorns and/ or cottonseed meal can cause green looking yolks. https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/green-egg-yolks.1111515/ More about green duck egg yolks...

The incubator turns eggs automatically, I just didn't turn them as I accumulated them before putting them in the incubator. The manual recommends 50-55% humidity, and the built in display shows 50%, but the monitor inside shows 42% most of the time. I've read that lot of people have better...

And the new incubator seems to be working. The digital readout of temp and humidity shows higher than it actually is, according to a temperature/humidity monitor that I put inside next to the eggs. Humidity is running around 40% more or less, and the temp ranges from mid 98 to a little over...

The New Hampshire pullets seemed to lose feathers constantly as they were growing, but now that they're laying they're not losing any. They've laid a couple eggs in strange places lately, one in the coop and another I found this morning outside the coop in the day run. The garlic is starting...

What did you do in the garden today?

Did a little garden cleanup this AM. Pulled up and put away a dozen t-posts, took down one of the cucumber trellis's and hid it under the trees and took the zucchini posts out. I started incubating some eggs yesterday, 10 from my best pullet. Hoping to get at least 3 or 4 pullets from the...

I just did the same thing and put 10 eggs from my best pullet in the incubator. The NH cockerels have been servicing her so the eggs should be fertile.

What did you do in the garden today?

I was making dense bread until I realized that I was measuring packed flour instead of sifted flour. Too much flour in relation to the water made a thick dough and impeded rising.

I was 15 minutes late but still had time to do all the exercises. The PT is definitely helping my shoulder.

Not 100% sure, but I think my mom's tuna casserole included a bag or two of dry egg noodles, two cans of tuna and a can each of cream of mushroom and cheese soup. I was a little late for my PT appointment today. Neighbor came over to visit and I lost track of time.

Fried green tomatoes are pretty good. Tuna noodle casserole was a regular when I was a kid, and I guess that is sort of a hotdish but cooked in a pot on the stovetop. There was frost on the windshield this morning here.
