You can get it some poultry feed, feed it some scrambled eggs, my ducks love dandelion buds, or edible weeds in water, bugs, worms, slugs. Make sure it has water deep enough that it can dip its entire bill under the water.
Coconut Oil... a neighbor's horse had a big gash on his leg with flies buzzing and walking all over it, by his hoof and I called my neighbor and told him that I noticed he was injured... he told me that I could put something on it for him, that he knew and had treated it already. I asked him...
Two ducks have claimed the same nest of eggs. They have a kind of schedule worked out - they both sit on it at night and then in the morning, one of the girls go out, when she returns at the end of the day, back to the nest with the other girl, and the next morning the other girl goes out and...
Thanks! Yeah, someone gave me the great advice (after the fact) to put river rocks in deeper water so that they could get out if they happened to get in. It was really, really sad (my first ducks and her first duckling), but I won't make the same mistake again.
Thanks... her duckling was a month old and somehow got into her water and couldn't get out and must have become exhausted and drown. :( She was a good mama, and was hoping to pick up some ducklings... she isn't sitting anymore, but the baby just died a few days ago.
That is what I thought, but it is the first time I have seen it, so it worried me. I know if I get a little slug slime on me there is almost nothing that can get it off, can't imagine what eating one might be like!
She seems fine, I caught her and tried to get it out, but it was kind of stuck? She doesn't act like she feels bad at all, just is trying to get it out of her mouth. Could she have just eaten a big banana slug and that is the byproduct? Anyone have a clue?
That would have been ideal. Unfortunately, the farm and feed store only had this in a powder form. I guess I could have figured out how to give her that in that form. I may go ahead and do that for the remaining week. I would really prefer to do that, though, I can guarantee you, she won't.
Has anyone ever seen them? My little duckling who I believed came from the egg of my breeder ancona hen and my breeder ancona drake, has really light blue eyes.
Thanks! I will edit the title. I am treating one because she began limping, it isn't broken, not bumblefoot, she began breathing heavy on and off... I upped her niacin and began giving her essential oils that are known to be natural antibiotics, penned her up off and on for 2 weeks, which...
So, because I am treating one duck with tetracycline, but don't have her penned up for a week because I didn't want to put any more stress on her, all 3 ducks that drink the water are ending up getting treated. I had a broody duck that has gone behind a board that is difficult to get to that...
I checked on her an hour ago and she was fine - all fluffy, peeping and started to follow after Mama when I made her get up so I could get a good look. I am so surprised that something that big can fit into an egg that small! No more eggs left... this was the last viable egg of the original 15...
