Wondering if I now am a world record holder for largest coturnix quail egg ever laid?? I know I have 2 hens in that pen that lay 'jumbo'' but wow, this one knocked my socks off.....looked for the limping, moaning bird after finding this! :) WOW!
Is there a record for largest quail egg...
Chickens dont get colds. Chickens do not sneeze becasue they are cold. Chickens dont gurggle when they are cold. These chickens are SICK. Take them back and sterilize EVERYTHING they have touched. FYI they look older than 4 weeks. You got ripped off.
Probably Infectious Coryz or some other...
Just another silly idea..but as mentioned above could be mites....but head shaking following wheezing is and continued wheezing is usually a respitory funk....still tho....I keep a burn pile and the free rangers love to roll in the ashes....its an old timers way to keep birds parasite...
First mistake....once a chicken gets sick...esp. with anything that is respitory...you NEVER EVER EVER NEVER put them back in the flock even when they are well....many healthy looking birds are carriers of infectious coryza. You cull them, you give them to a friend or auction with a...
Sorry for your loss also but I'll say it here and everywhere else I can on here....too many people are "KILLING" their "PET" chickens with "whatever they read on these forums" to do. Please have common sense people and let this be a lesson...they have the brain about the size of a pea (you tube...
I live on a farm and we just spread it around......trust me in becomes good old fashioned "dirt" in a very short course of time. you can also burn it, esp. if youve had any chickens with the "funk". It makes an ash pile and chickens LOVE an ash pile to bath in-help keeps parasites off them.
Sometimes people on here are too quick to kill birds with kindness (force feeding etc.) Mother nature is the best healer. Highly doubt its fowl pox...trust me your vet would recognize as would most people from 20 paces...its rather visable and highly contagious. Just let her be her...if she's...
I just shove mine in a roomy cage once they hatch...they brood with the rest of the herd, I mean flock. ;) but once chicks hatch they get put up in a cage as my chickens free range-too much risk of babies becoming crow and hawk snacks. Any ol cage will do, throw some hay in and they are happy as...
Nothing like lots of bleach/soak, a good scrub brush and soap and hot water..tho hose water is fine, and letting it to sit in the sun if you have sun depending where you live for a day. :)
You can also BUY agricide, Bio-oo-cide etc. just look up Poultry Disinfectants-many to choose from. :)
You can get e-coli and samonella and giardia and coccidiosis and avain flu (more of a problem in China than here but since wild birds migrate...well, thats what ag always checks for, also there are thoughs that avian flu has led to swine flu etc. you could spend all day reading about that but...
Most def. get a chick or 2 from the same place...they just get them thur the hatcheries. The only risk you run with feed store chicks, is that every tom dick n harry that has chickens and is in buyng their chicken feed is handling the chicks ( you know...the ones who DIDNT wash their hands or...
Wanted to buy above mentioned birds...can meet you at the STATE FAIR SHOW and pick up.....PM me only with pics/price etc., i will not check back here. THANKS..also interested in Seramas....
If its a Still Air which Im guessing it is...get your eggs in and then put the cheapie thermomoter that it comes with on TOP of the eggs and get your reading from there. :) Make it about 101.5-102..not over 102. Dont fret over it being EXACT. Temps will go up and down depending on your room...
Well....my cabinet had a waffer malfunction, my eggs were piling up so being a hatch aholic and by dogs and I can only eat some many eggs...I ran out to the local TSC and got ANOTHER (Ive had them in the past) LG.
I read with facination about DRY incubation, as my past expereinces with LGs...
Sounds like Marecks.
I come here and read these boards from time to time.....and always it breaks my heart. I raise chickens n quail in large quantities, but there is always a few try as you might that will still your heart. And sure enough I can GUAAARAANTEEE that if you name that or call...
I keep wormer on hand but never use it except with caged birds/show stock and ones that make eggs only for hatching as....DO I REALLY want that in my eggs and then in my body or the body of my dogs or anything/body that consumes the eggs? Keep in mind what goes in does come out...not only in...
