I had a tiny one as well from a RIR last fall,,,, just a wee bit bigger than a jelly bean...of course, my boys cracked it open and there was not a yolk in it, just the white...wish I could share a pic of it...
Introducing Reggie, our RIR Rooster....he is blind in one eye, and doesn't crow..lol...he is living out his final days on my farm with my hens. We rescued him from a farm that didn't want him anymore. He loves to be handfed and follows us everywhere!

I have had chickens in the past and was always told to keep a light on during the night for better egg laying. Is this true? We are getting ready to have daylight savings time end here in Illinois, so it will be dark by 4:30 or 5 p.m. Any comments? What about a heat lamp? Is it necessary?

My hen had bumblefoot with no scab. And it has been over a month since we performed surgery on her. Just two weeks ago we were able to get the "cores" out of the foot by massaging and soaking her foot. It is a long process. Good luck!
