    Same here in n.e. arkansas, rice is the backbone of the economy and harvest is always a boon of free grains (especially rice).

    New-What am I doing wrong with my feeding

    I was thinking of adding All Flock to my hens layer pellets. Any pro/con a more experienced poultry keeper will be appreciated.I just quit giving my girls fermented feed because they started dropping like flies around the fourth week after starting on it.

    New Hampshire Breed Thread

    This is my New Hampshire broody, I got her and 10 others at t.s.c. the last week of February. They started laying the 3rd week of July and she started sitting the 2nd week of August and hatched 6 of 9 duck eggs. Now she is on the nest again just 8wks after hatching them.

    Well 8wks since she hatched ducks my N.H.broody is back on the nest again. She has eight eggs that are N.H., crossed with Buff Orphington and Ancona.

    Can you feed chickens uncooked rice?

    I collect green rice out of the field every year at harvest, along with whole corn, soy beans, milo, sesame seeds, and wheat. This all gets mixed together and fermented. This saves me from buying ANY grains all year. I only have to buy layer pellets.

    I agree she is a Magpie my Maggie hen lays a white egg about the size of an extra large chicken egg every single day. I LOVE my Maggie's.
