The vet came out yesterday and found a small lesion in Kirby’s mouth. By this point she’s basically better- she still coughs/sneezes a little bit but not as frequently or intensely, and she’s breathing fine again. The vet said that if it flares up again to give her some of the antibiotics I...
My sister pointed out to me that this girl has been having a progressively harder time breathing for a few months now. It’s only recently gotten this severe. I just got home from college so I immediately assumed it was related to the pox, but it might be something else.
I have a vet appt set up...
She’s doing a little better today. I kept her inside all afternoon yesterday and through the night, and she seemed more energetic this morning. I had to hand feed her a few teeny tiny bites of egg yesterday, but today she pecked at it by herself and ate a good bit more.
Right now she isn’t...
There’s an occasional crackle, but she’s mostly just wheezing. Her eyes and nose are clear.
I have had issues with respiratory issues in the past. Most recently a few of my birds got diagnosed with mycoplasma gallisepticum, and the vet prescribed an antibiotic that cleared it up. I’m gonna...
I’m in the Southwest. I can’t see anything in her throat just when she opens her mouth, but I’m hesitant to hold her and pry her mouth open since she’s already struggling to breathe. There’s no odor or anything.
I’ll do that, thank you
Dry pox is going through my flock right now, but I think one of my hens has wet pox. I know it isn’t treatable, but I’m wondering if anyone has experience with helping a chicken survive wet pox.
She’s really struggling to breath, so I’m isolating her today so she doesn’t have to move around...
Thank you for this, I’ll give it a shot.
We’ve been putting ACV ice cubes in their water and the whole flock loves it.
With the tart cherry, I’m assuming I’d just break open the capsules into her food?
The bumblefoot is really bad, but the times I’ve attempted to treat it at home have only ended up making it worse. :hmm You can tell she’s been sitting on her hocks a lot, too.
Here’s pictures of her feet from the top
Forgot to mention that I’ve been using VetRx as well. My sister was able to save two of them who were close to dying with just that while I was away at college (10/10 would recommend the stuff). I’ve been adding it to their water and putting some on her nose too.
I have a 7y/o EE hen who has some form of gout or arthritis. Her joints in her feet are really swollen and gnarled, and its getting to a point where I can tell its painful for her to get around. The pain is affecting her appetite too, she’s lost a significant amount of weight in the last two...
I have a 7y/o EE hen who seems to have a nasty sinus infection. The left side of her face is super swollen around her eye, and there’s bubbly discharge coming from her eye.
A few weeks ago there were multiple chickens in my flock showing these symptoms, but with discharge in both their eyes and...
Cody, laying just outside the medicine den and just within earshot, muttered "Oh no, kid, you're hated." She busied herself with the mess of herbs at her feet in an effort to appear inconspicuous.
