Yeah they are definitely a cross, but I didn't see what other birds she had so I couldn't get an idea. Yes, they do have feathered feet. She mentioned they could potentially be barred rock, but the coloring is throwing me off.
Hey everyone!
Last night I went and picked up two small roos. It was only supposed to be one, but, you know, chicken math.
Anyway, what the HECK could these be? Honestly never seen a mix like this.
They are small, not banty size, more Cochin. I know they are mixed. What kind of bird is...
I thought it was a Toulouse, but all the ones I could find all had dewlaps. Very protective of all the other birds, but very calm with myself, hubs and kiddos.
I have heard where the male has a different noise than the female? This one is more of a *kaw kaw kaw* but in more of a honk tone. Haven't found any eggs so that's why I'm curious
Hello everyone. I took a long hiatus after an almost total flock loss last year.
Anyway, I was at TSC last year and was practically given this bird ($1 lol). I'm not even sure if I have the breed correct, a Toulouse maybe? At first I thought it was a boy, but now I don't know 😬
How do I...
Hello all. I took a very long break from this group. I've been working on myself mentally after nearly losing my whole flock last year. I'm coming back stronger than before and will be making a comeback with babies this year ❤️
No, I didn't think they could jump that high, but I will get something over it ASAP.
Another thing that could have caused the loss of my babes, is we've had crazy weather. It was 96* one day, and the next was 68*.
Two disappeared, I found one in the water, I found another one in the fenced area, so I brought the last 4 inside since Winnie wasn't watching them very well and I found another one on the floor (idk how) because it was inside a stock tank on a table.
So now I have three :(
Winnie let me sit next to her while she was sitting. After I found them all hatched she moved about two feet away and watched the whole time. She does hiss but that's usually when another duck or one of my kids is outside lol.
After waiting ever so patiently for Winnie to hatch her eggs....I came home to 7 fully hatched, one stuck in it's shell, and one sadly didn't make it. It started to hatch, it's beak was out, but it was gone.
8 BABIES. 8 smol floofs 😍 All born on September 16 🥰🥰
