Emu pictures and stories.... post them here

I'm pretty sure no one ever spends time with her. I've been told she "bites" and doesnt like people, but she follows everyone that walks by her pen (which also isnt very big).

Emu pictures and stories.... post them here

I love all the pictures in this thread! Hopefully next year I will be getting some emus. Do they do well alone? There is an emu at a park/petting zoo near me and he/she has been there for years all by itself.

Can I join? These are my grey runners, I have 9 adults and 20 ducklings, with more hatching almost every weekend. The first two pictures are one of my better females. She has a very full crop in these pictures so she doesn't look her best.

I buy brewers yeast from foy's pigeon supply. It is less than half the price of the stuff from GNC and gives directions for use.

    Best/Worst types of bedding

I buy wood pellets for $5.99 a bag, but they last at least twice as long as shavings. I have 18 3-5 week old ducklings in a brooder right now and I have to change the area around their water every couple days, but they absorb so much its not dripping wet or anything. The rest of the brooder last...

    Best/Worst types of bedding

Wood pellets are the best for me, they are super absorbent and reduce smell a lot, straw is horrid.

Is it possible to vent sex a 5 week old duckling?

I think its if you vent sex chicks after three days they can prolapse much easier.

Average Cornish X and Pekin feed to weight ratio

Does anyone have the feed to weight ratio for a backyard raised cornish cross raised on 22% - 24% feed, fermented and dry? I have looked online but everything I found was different, from 2:1 to 4:1. And I could find barely anything consistent on Pekins either. How many lbs. would an average...

The African and Chinese goose thread!!

Nice little flock! How old are they? I dont know exact dates but they were hatched this year. The females are a little older than the male. Their knobs have just started to get big in the past month or so.

The African and Chinese goose thread!!

My Chinese geese. I have two females and one male. The male is the one on the left and the one in the second picture. They are so funny, they strut all over and boss the everyone around. The females are just starting to lay.

    Michigan

Ugh I have been so busy lately. I have 15 more ducklings, lots more chicks, I am getting ready to get my 4-h chickens and rabbits, and getting ready to go on vacation. Oh, my pet garter snake (wild caught, shame on me) had 35 baby snakes and I am feeding them something nasty that I won't...
