My chicks hatched tje other day and while checking them out.i noticed two of them have a straight comb.i know this is a recessive gene and you need two birds to have it to hatch straight comb chicks. I guess I'll have to use my backup rooster or try to figure out which hen has the gene. :(
That awesome. Congrats. My last two hatches have been both 100% out of egg from my own flock. I hatched 88 on the first one,the second 52. I gave half of the first hatch away to my neighbors. They've been wanting to get involved in raising quail.
I started raising quail several months ago. I am so glad i found this thread. I've become a little obsessed with raising them. They are such great birds to raise.
