I have a small call duckling with this. he is around 6 weeks old. my ducklings are not hand tame.
a) is it to late to try wraping it?
b) can they swim while it's wrapped?
c) does he need to be separated from the flock whole he is wrapped?
actually my phone was wrong weather.com says its not going below 23 tonight I dont know if that makes a difference for tonight or not but I know we will also get colder nights here soon so a) do I need to lock them in tonight b) do I need to lock them in whne it gets colder?
My ducks normally have the freedom to choose where they sleep (in their house with hay or in their run) they typically choose to sleep on in the water in their pool. I"m concerned because the temp is supposed to drop to around 17degree's tonight (its already pretty cold out) and they are still...
How do you candle the eggs? If I take them to candle them will she except them back or just give up and move on?
She has been siting on them since Friday how many days do I wait?
So here is the situation one of my hens has "gone broody" but we got rid of our rooster about a month ago... I'm ok with letting her hatch eggs (though we were not planing to have chicks yet... BUT is it even possible that the eggs are still fertilized?
I have no idea how many eggs are under...
I ended up giving her the goat dewormer, as well as one dose of probiotic. In addition to that I did a crop massage 2x a day, limited feed to softened food and limited amounts at a time.
YAY today her poop looked more normal and she is much more feisty! I will check her crop again in the morning but this afternoon it was full but not hard at all YAY!!!!!! hoping and praying I can let her out with her friends tomorrow!
she is still hanging in there but not much change, eating a bit, drinking some crop felt HARD today but softer again later on... IDK wish I coudl pay to have a vet look at her since I really dont know what I"m doing but cant sooooooo we shall just have to see
I'm dealing with this now... worming her and keeping her seperate to keep her from getting bullied I'm trying to find the article someone posted to me that was helpful!

Would it work to mash some egg up with the dewormer and feed to each hen? I dont have consistant help here (minus my 5yearold twins) and syring feeding seems to need 2 ppl. and with the goat wormer being 5 doses and I have 12 hens I'm trying to figure out an easier way...
She seems to be doing OK and I hope I"m giving her the meds ok but I seem to be getting better at it! I'm holding her head in a normal position prying her mouth open and putting the meds in the front part of her mouth once I hear her breath so she does not inhale it and I watch as she swallows...
I'm not going out of town but will turn the lamp off since I can not turn it off on sabbath it seems like she is staying away from the heat anyways. I'm sticking around to keep an eye on her even if I am limited on what I can do for her
Her crop looked a bit less full this afternoon gave her some wet feed which she ate and she seemed happier walking aroudn the crate more (trying to escape any time I open the door, which she was not doing yesterday) will give her the dewormer based on weight tonight 1.357ml
Praying she pulls...
she voided 2 more times (much more white then green this time, still watery) he crop is softer but still feels semi full, going to pickup a plain yogurt and the syringes.
I cant, we dont have the money to spend on the vet that will see a hen its well over $100! Monday I can get a basic fecal done by my local vet (who does not do chickens) she said she can look for Coccidia. I am picking up smaller syringes from her today.
What do I do about her slow/sour crop...
