    What am I?

Yep. Sapphire gems. Mom came out to eat and I found a deceased chick partially out of a brown shell.

What do you think of Tractor Supply’s new chick bins?

Tractor Supply spent 10 million dollars upgrading these systems ($2,500 each set up). I personally like the brooder style radiant heat panels. It mimics mother more naturally. It doesn't disrupt the at night with light. I have also read it reducing pecking and pasty butt. I like that they...

    What am I?

So my husband apparently missed some eggs in the coop. I now have 2 babies. Any guesses on what they are? In my flock I have black sexlinks, golden comets, rhode island reds, white leghorns, easter eggers, olive eggers, sapphire gems, and a rooster that looks similar to an Ameracauna. (I...

    Holy guacamole!

I have roughly 18 chickens and 1 rooster. This morning, I heard a strange crow. I walked out this morning to find that the black sexlink hen that I got in March is crowing like a rooster! She even has bald areas from mating with the rooster. What the heck happened?! I have video lol

Colloidal silver for respiratory infection in chickens.

I have a chicken with some sort of respiratory illness. She is stressing over being isolated. How much do I give her and how? I have colloidal silver, but have yet had to use it. Do I dilute it? Do I put it on her food? Directly in mouth? I am freaking out. Should I treat flock? I...

DO I need to be worried?

I moved her and she pooped when I grabbed her. It looked normal. Now that she is freaking out because she's isolated, she pooped almost complete water, brown mustard color with some seed sized clumps. She is stressing big time. I have no clue what to do.

DO I need to be worried?

No she was not. I am thinking she just has something in her eye, but super paranoid since I just lost one. I will go tomorrow and get some saline to flush it to see if it helps.

DO I need to be worried?

A couple days ago I lost an older hen of mine. She had circulation problems, due to old age or something else. Yesterday, I noticed one of my newest hens (olive egger) had a watery eye, like she maybe had something in it. Today, her upper eyelid is a tad swollen and running again. She isn't...

    Help!

I examined her. No signs of any illness. I moved her into the house, where the heat and humidity was more comfortable. I got her to take drops of water from my finger. No improvement. I talked to a local back yard chicken expert, and she said she was more than likely eggbound, causing poor...

    Help!

I looked at a diagram. I am pretty confident it was the crop. She will take drops of water from my finger, but not drink from the bowl right next to her. She is laying on her side now. Breathes normal for a bit, then opens her mouth and breathes quickly for a bit.
