some people do kick them but there are other ways to show she's the boss. chasing them a bit to show she's boss and not afraid of them. if nothing helps you may have to get rid of them. here's some ideas but they were for a single hen or rooster attacking a human, not several all at once...
I love my sweet EE but was so disappointed after waiting 5 months to see what her egg color would be, blue, green or even pink....I ended up with a beige just like my speckled sussex egg. I so wanted a colored egg. she is the most friendliest of our flock though. oh well.-lisa
my rooster used to seem to be afraid of the dark and wouldnt go into the coop unless there was a light in there. didnt have more problems after I got a string of solar lights to light up the inside a little. we dont have the roo anymore though, city living.
when the pullets roosted in the run...
I use it but havent had much experience. my neighbors tried it in their yard to control flea problem with no success. doesnt hurt to try it. think it does sometimes help firm up the runny poo when you put it in the food as its got clay or something in it.
I have a hen who's acting kind of broody but not all day long, she wanders around for a bit in the morning and from late afternoon till end of day but middle of day she sits on the nest even if their is nothing in it and puffs up and tries to bite anything that gets close. I took her out today...
thank you. thats what I thought but hadnt heard of anyone selling any buff ones only the laced wyadottes so i wasnt sure there were buff ones out there. thanks, lisa
what kind is he, seems to have a rose comb and very yellow legs, so he doesnt fit the description of an orpington. he was sold as a buff orpington chick but he's not. what is he? Is he a buff wyandotte or something else? thanks, lisa
it was frustrating rehoming my two roosters but i finally found them good homes, one through a friends friend on fb and the other on craigslist with a gal in the country who was looking for unwanted animals for her 10acres. you might look under wanted in your CL and see if you find anyone...
here are a few pics of my older hens 4+ months old now. dont know which one seemed to have crowed at 3am though. they are speckled sussex, easter egger, and black sex link.
speckled sussex at about 3 months old, she's got larger red comb and wattles now at 4+months...
I just had that happen as well. dont know if you have a roo or not. hoping i dont. i just rehomed two roos and two days afterward one of the hens crowed at 3am but dont know which one. all mine had late growing combs and wattles and didnt start getting red till the last month or so at 4 months...
I rehomed two roosters recently, a week ago a 7 week old, very vocal roo and two days ago my sweet 8lb mystery roo who's 4 months old who didnt start crowing till two days after the little roo was gone. we knew from early on both were roos. two days after I rehomed the last roo(last night) at...
I finally managed to rehome my 7 week old rooster easter egger. two days after I rehomed him my 4 month old rooster finally started to crow and is an instant loud pro so I am hoping his rehoming doesnt fall through as one already didnt work out as she was gonna eat him since she already had a...
We finally got our 7 week old rooster rehomed with some nice people, wish he had more chickens to keep him company than one but maybe they will get more, they seemed really nice at least. two days after we rehomed him our four month old rooster started crowing when he never had before so we are...
I also am having trouble getting rid of a young rooster, I have put him on CL, a freecycle like list, homeschool email list, fb, and a note at the feed store and so far no takers. I am in Oregon. 7 week old black and white easter egger who's crowing.
Does anyone have any suggestions for finding a new home for a young rooster. He's been listed on craigslist, a homeschool list, a freecycle type list and put a note on a board at the feed store but no takers so far and I need him placed soon as he's crowing a lot and we arent allowed roosters in...
Sorry I cant trade roo's I need to rehome him because we arent allowed to keep rooster's in the city and he has started to crow. I have a home planned for my other rooster but he hasnt started crowing yet so we are waiting. thanks, lisa
I think next time i brood chicks i will go with the construction sand as it has some bigger particles in it. this time round i used straight Stall Dry which worked great to keep the smell down and keep things dry but I think it was probably even more dusty than regular sand would be and the dust...
