Thanks..I did get a little closer to him yesterday and I believe I could see his right nostril..or part of it..His comb was in front of it..I'm gonna go in there with him today and just sit for awhile..Get him accustomed to me being inside with him..I'm thinking that once I do get hold...
He is the picture of health otherwise..Crows, eats, scratches in the dirt, dust bathes, catches and eats unfortunate bugs that wander into his pen, drinks water, etc..
He has a big blob of a rose comb, and I'm wondering can those things overgrow the nostrils or otherwise cause breathing trouble...

I would definately check with a vet that knows about geese, or the agricultural dept, unless someone else on here knows for certain..
I had a goose for years who never showed signs of worms, and she walked around everywhere..Geese don't swallow as much dirt as chickens do..so I wonder...

It happened so fast... That's the only good thing about it..If you don't count the month he was incapacitated prior to his departure..
His brothers are missing him.. They just kept staring at me and into Gofer's pen yesterday when I was sitting out under the tree..
That dang Ambien or...

Thank you for the kind words..
Poor baby just panicked when his air got cut off..The fright was too much for him to withstand.. I have momentarily had MY air cut off, and I know the horrible feeling and terror it causes.. I just had the advantage of knowing if I forced myself to relax...

Sad news..My Gofer is gone..
Earlier, he seemed a bit too warm, so I turned on the ceiling fan in the room to keep the air moving..That was a mistake..When I went in awhile ago to check on him, his nose had stuffed up again and he was making that noise in his throat again..I turned the...

Well now that makes a lot of sense doesn't it?? Oh my goodness! I bet that felt good. Now I have to wonder - the back injury - it wasn't his preening gland, was it? The swelling? Sometimes those things get backed up and will swell. Just curious.
Glory, indeed - and I do know what...

True..Thankfully the injury did not involve anything to do with his wings or neck..I wonder if I should be still trying to work the frozen up leg joint..I stopped after the first few days of trying because he was having more pressing concerns..It's tightening more and more..Circulation...

If I had room, and more energy, and someone to build good pens and little houses for me, and more energy, and did I say, more energy? I no doubt would actually go out and buy/adopt more chickens..And other feathered babies.. But we have our hands full with the 4 roosters, 12 dogs and 20...

Breakthrough!!! Think "Oil Gland".. I went to bed praying and thinking about that poor dry face skin..I woke up about 5 AM and thought HE CAN"T GET TO HIS OIL GLAND...
Got him out of his box, set him on the floor with his water and food..He started to pant a little..I started hunting...

Well bless his big heart. Heat (and his respiratory issue) really jsut drain a bird. Heat alone would stress, but hopefully this will get him going a bit. I guess the poops were a good thing, yes?
And don't worry - we all have Gofer's back now, and yours.
I appreciate you...

oh your posts are just fine. I'm glad to hear that your boy showed appetite today. We completely understand. So Gofer is his name, yes? Good. I'm glad to hear his breathing is doing better - that's awesome. And doing the nose is fine to start. It's a bit unnerving to do, but it...
