Ok thank you! My one w the longest spurs does have a long dark streak that wasn't always there. I will keep cornstarch ready. They are all good boys that i manage easily, hope that is true when i need to do this
I've never cut any of my boys spurs yet, but my 4 and 5 yo roos are long and the one set is clicking against each other. Do they always bleed, is there a quick to watch for, like with dogs ?
I have large dog clippers and planned on maybe using my dremmel to smooth after. Thank you
Agree. I lose sleep trying to do treatments on mine in the past.. end result is eventual heartache. Maybe 2 in 10 had good life for a few months. So very hard. My heart needs a break.
While i will take care of my remaining 30 mixed flock to my best ability, knowledge and strength, I...
I feel like such a failure. I research constantly but still my fav girls die no matter what. From ascites to sour crop , no remedies seem to help for long.
I wish i knew how to end her without a knife and without some ways I've seen on here. I've had a flock for 6 years now. I do think the...
Shes suffering i need to put her out of her misery. I gave her Tylenol and muscle relaxer hoping it eases her transition. I've been trying all things today and only prolonging her suffering
Appreciate your guidance. I've had them for 6 years now and lost 5 since December. 2 def water belly. I should have watched her longer maybe. She had such s strong will to live, didn't realize it turned to water belly since i had another one of my oldest with similar but not as severe...
I got the syringe, she was so full of fluid. Relief on her face immediately. I found another video they didn't extract but put the needle and let it drain. It did. I'm wondering if her forward position as i was doing it caused her to get fluid in her lungs. She began gurgling after i...
I gave her some supplements like I've been with milk thistle, garlic, oil oregano etc i have to find where to get the syringe. Tractor supply here doesn't carry them. I'm reluctant to do it but she clearly wants to live.
Manipulating gently today i feel an egg moving. I need to give her room...
Please do let us know about the necropsy. My girl is hanging on, seems to want to live. I gave her water, food and pain meds tonight since she is very uncomfortable. I'm very sorry for your loss. These girls have quite loveable personalities, so hard to see them leave our lives. I've lost 3 in...
I've had the same going on with mine and posted questions. The hard front area but squishy bloat now. I am giving pain meds now. She actually has a healthy appetite. Even at 9pm i checked her and offered Greek yogurt with feed and oregano oil.
It's so hard. My first Isa Brown i lost around 3...
Yes the protocol you use when you drain it. She's so full i feel bad. I did give her a pain and anti inflammatory i had for my cat when i thought i was going to lose her so she wouldn't suffer and that actually helped with the swelling so gave her that again tonight
Thank you for your help! :)
I do have copper sulfate liquid.
I tried on another one of my hens before. It didn't help and she died. I go to extremes to help them many times and it's usually the same outcome. They get better then eventually die i break my heart every time.
If you can share the link I'll take a look but...
Yes, the white area seems more than usual and with the belly issues i thought yeast was a concern. I looked in her mouth for thrush signs and looked like maybe some at the back of her throat.
So oregano water really helps with ascitis?
I've made some tonics that helped but it always comes...
I've been doing quite a few things she's had this off and on for several weeks. I feel bad thinking, should i keep trying to save her but she's eating and roaming with everyone when they free range. She's just slow. And the patches of white on her cheeks..i really though yeast may be...
Her vent was swollen the other week and throbbing so i did probe then for an egg.
I'm going to give get the oregano water slowly with syringe.
She's been behaving like that gaping breath when i pick her up but i haven't seen yellow liquid like my other one had with ascitis
I'll be back w pic
