Lights come on at 4:30 a.m and off at 8:00 p.m they’re well fed, cleaned weekly, always have food and water with supplements ( omega egg maker, vinegar once a month, little oatmeal, scratch w/ sunflower seeds, cayenne pepper sprinkled on feed.     We soaked the heart all day in milk, trimmed fat and silver skin. Pan fried with onions coated with seasoned flour. Was awesome! No strong taste and oh so tender!

    Our truck found a deer the other day. Not a good way! Be careful what you wish for. Not long ago I said I wish I had some venison in my freezer. Expensive venture!!!     We have a fan in each coop. Our outside run is covered for shade. I run water for them to peck and wade in. They really like mud! Lol

    I think she may have! Once in a great while I’ll get an egg on the floor or in the outdoor run. They’re good about using their nesting boxes. But they all seem to want box number one. One day there was 4 hens crammed in!

    I have the egg eating problem too and they get lots of protein. Soldier worms daily 16% protein pellets and meat scraps. What else should I give them?

    I have fake eggs in all the nests and still get punctured eggs almost always on the end where the air pocket is. Why? They also break eggs. They move the straw from the center of the box. We have tote lids on the bottom of the boxes. Should I get mats or maybe add shavings?

    My girls don’t kick any bedding out because of the lip in front but they clear the center which leaves a hard floor and I’m getting broken eggs and eggs with a punctured end! Why? Are they being rough? Each box also has a fake egg.
