I got lucky and a Home Depot was clearing out FSL for 3.70 a 20lb bag, bought all 6 they had. Not sure why they were clearing them out because all the other stores were regular price 37.00
Well, they spent their first night in the coop and run. When I woke this morning, I opened the door, and out came nine little happy chicks to say good morning.
I get that completely... We live in the city, so our predator list is much smaller. We will also be outside with them when we let them into the other area that is not the run. We are looking for free fertilizer, mulching, some good old weeding, and bug prevention. So, clipping the wings is being...
Well, we got them outside in the coop and run. It was interesting watching them leave the brooder and huddle in a smaller space for about 10 minutes. The Zombie chick decided to explore and sure enough the rest followed. They seem happy and figured out how to fly. At what age do we clip the wings?
Our babies are about 4 weeks old. They will be going out in the run with their brooder box and heater. When can they eat random stuff other than chick feed? We have Construction sand in the run do they need grit? And when can they get treats and fruits and veggies.
Thank you
Well, the coop looks great. My wife said you need an interior decorator. I'm not finished building mine and she has bought a light put some ornamental art up. LOL. The funny thing was from day one my chickens my responsibility however she is jumping in a playing with them, naming them and...
Well we are holding off for about another 1-2 weeks by then there will be steady warmth outside and everything should be finished. I got a setback on a special order board and won't get it till Monday so there is no roof yet. So we upgraded their brooder to a duplex today instead. They think the...
Okay, I'll move them out probably by this weekend. The question I have now is the coop has a concrete slab and we were going to use deep sand for the base in there. However with the baby chicks I know sand is not the best thing right now. Should I just use pine flakes that we've been using.
Okay we are in part of a pickle I guess you could say. We have 10 baby chicks they are now a week and a half to two weeks old. They have almost flown out of the brooder. We do have a cover on it with mesh and stuff so normally they can't get out but I mean we just were reaching in to take care...
We have 5 of smaller breeds in the 10 so I should be ok. Plus it is for sleeping/laying eggs only. They will have outside access 365 days a year here in so cal.
Ok. I have had the chicks for 5 days so they are a week old. We have the heat plate at an angle. Should they be able to stand under the plate on one side or should they need to bend over some to get in? They seem to be ok as they are active and come and go from the plate and do not huddle...
Well, all is better got the new paint and finished painting and it has great coverage. Working on the trim work and the windows and small doors. Plus, fill the cinder blocks with cement.
