    Fighting over the thermostat

That's what they're supposed to do, go under when they're too cold and then come out when they're warm enough. They are going to need a larger brooder though as they get older and more active

Can 3wk old turkeys go outside to the brooder with heat plate?

Only thing to be wary of is chickens can be carriers of blackhead disease which is often fatal in turkeys, that's the main reason you have to be very careful when having chickens and turkeys together

    Is Pine Dangerous to Chickens?

I use pine in the coop and there are pine trees absolutely everywhere here so they are exposed to pine no matter what. Never had an issue and very many other have used pine without any sort of issues. As @oldhenlikesdogs said, just avoid cedar and you're good

🐣 What Kind of Chicken Parent Are You?

    1. A is the closest, I usually say "hi ladies!" 2. A mix of c, d and e. There isn't a schedule per se, but I do clean when something needs to be done but other than that I use deep litter. Smell is usually a good indicator that something is off but I mostly go by visuals. 3. C but I will also...

Things you wish you could say

Equine bites can be surprisingly nasty, while I'm sure they were being hyperbolic, I'm sure they could take off fingers or otherwise do serious damage if they were ticked off enough and got a good bite in

Things you wish you could say

Zebras are meaner than you'd think. Think about it, in the wild they have to survive against lions, leopards, cheetahs, hyenas and wild dogs among other things. You won't survive in such an environment long without having some serious moxie and there's a reason people generally don't ride them...

Things you wish you could say

There's train tracks a mile to the east of me and a mile to the west, both are very much active. Train tracks are everywhere here, thankfully train noises don't bother me and I rather enjoy hearing them

    Rooster starting to get aggressive

I'd wait and see, aggression is certainly more likely but not guaranteed given their father is aggressive. Just don't breed an aggressive roo in the future

Are young Orpingtons prone to shell problems?

Pull down on her wattles to open her mouth and pop the pill in, she'll swallow it

Are young Orpingtons prone to shell problems?

Sounds like she might have a reproductive issue going on. It's not really an Orpington thing, just a thing that can happen to any hen from time to time. I'd grab her off the roost at night and give her a calcium citrate + d3 tablet for a few days and see if that helps

The one a few towns over will often sit for like an hour. It also goes over a major highway during the day. Naturally everyone hates that train

Things you wish you could say

That I didn't get stuck at the railroad crossing on the one day we have a slow train. Yet it's still movingm much faster than the trains in the town a few towns over gets. Srsly a snail could move faster than that train (and the train is still crossing as I type this)

    Feeding my 11 weeks old

You can feed chick feed indefinitely, I'd just make sure to set out a separate container of oyster shell in another week or 2 in case anyone needs calcium as they start getting closer to laying age. If you do switch to layer wait until everyone is laying, if you have a male in the mix though I'd...

Things you wish you could say

Oh and of course they left the package in front of the tree in front of the driveway in full view of the road rather than on the porch. Such a thing is just asking for porch pirates to come steal it

Things you wish you could say

I wish I could say that FedEx/ups didn't screw up and leave someone's package at my place. The delivery address isn't even on my street and of course there's no contact info on the thing and I have no idea who the person is or where they are. Hopefully someone comes for it in the coming days

Where do you guys keep your supplies?

Food and oyster shell is kept inside and everything else is kept in the shed

    Rooster starting to get aggressive

Nope, time for soup. You can't fix him being rough with the hens, you can't make him stop attacking others and other animals and you can only rarely make a rooster stop attacking you. Not only that but he'll pass on his horrible attitude to any chicks he fathers. Deal with him now before someone...

Things you wish you could say

Very true, I hope they are aware of that and the article just wasn't very clear but if they indeed aren't aware that they'll keep growing then they will be in for a very rude awakening. I can appreciate them wanting to give chickens the same treatment as their other animals but how they're going...

Things you wish you could say

They seem to be mostly freedom ranger meat birds, while not as bad as trying to rehome Cornish crosses to pet only homes, they honestly shouldn't be all that picky. Almost everyone who wants freedom rangers wants them for meat, not as pets. At this rate it's going to go from a bad time to a...
