@Tonyroo @JRies Got it, thanks!
Also, any advice on where to buy them online?
I'm thinking Stromberg's or Metzer Farms.
Of course, it's not the time for hatching yet, but I want to have a plan outlined :)
Hello!
I am considering buying some geese as a present to my friends. They used to have 4 Embden geese (I think they were Embden), but unfortunately 3 were killed. The one left, a male, is a loner and sometimes hangs out with the ducks. We've been planning to get him a "bride" for a few months...
My white silkies make regular rounds to a bare patch of ground for dust bathing, so they are not as clean as they used to be. Thanks for the detailed steps and pictures (the wet silkie was so funny to see)! I'm only wondering if I should rinse them off directly with a shower head or pouring...
My friends and I went to the country fair a few weeks ago and roamed inside the 4-H building where all the entries were on display. I had a fun time with my brother viewing all the photographs that won ribbons because they really varied in quality. One was simply a phone picture of a cow’s nose...
Thanks for all the replies!
I've given my silkies (8 months old) watermelon before, but I suppose half of it is just too large for them.
I'll try to give them scraps more often and see if they get used to it.
(btw, they've shown themselves to be wimps before, and they're not that smart for a...
Today, I was dismayed to find that I raised my two silkie hens to be wimps - they were afraid of a watermelon.
After the watermelon was basically eaten, I tried giving the rind (it had an inch or two of red left) to my silkies, knowing that chickens love watermelon. However, they were very...
I would stick to giving them duck feed (if that's what you mean in "I don't really wanna do the purina" :)) since it works well in giving them all the nutrients they generally need.
As for healthy snacks, this thread may help! >>>...
My female quail stopped laying at 2.5 - 3 years old, and I got rid of my males at 2 years old.
I would get rid of both females and males before the 2 year mark.
Hi! A friend had this problem with a chicken: the chicken isn’t broody - she’s not sitting on the eggs. She’s more like, “If I can’t keep my eggs, you’re not getting them!” She comes running to the nest box anytime she sees us walking up to the coop (so if she’s outside, she comes racing in)...
No problem! Sometimes, I can't resist putting the ducklings together as soon as possible, too. I would just let it sleep. Normally, it should be up and about the next day.
It should be ok since it just hatched, but check again in a few hours. Next time, try keeping it in the incubator until it is all dry. Make sure your brooder has a heat lamp or plate to keep it warm.
If you like, you could keep it on a little towel in the brooder so it could rest. Looks cute! :love
