@Grandma The Chicken I'm sorry for your loss. She was a remarkable lady, and got to cuddle with some babies there before she passed. Sounds like a good life for a chicken to me. :)
I regret giving my porcelain d'uccle(booted bantam) and golden sebright away last year. They were tiny and amazing little birds. According to the lady, they are happy with her, but I wish I had infinite coops for all the pretty birds.
Hanging with their "food boobs" out over the edge. 😆...
Excuse my face, Yeti was eating my finger on my other hand.
Red found a way to keep away from the boys this morning.
Kiddo has named her chicks
Diva the leghorn. Kiddo didn't like the name "boy insurance" haha
Dream the legbar
Cadet mug
He's very handsome (hi Periwinkle in the back!)
They want the sticks kiddo is poking through. They grab them, run off, then realize it doesn't have any leaves to eat.
I saw some glossy hip feathers the other day! I'll keep an eye on them
If they are a girl, they will stay. We plan on keeping all the girls and eating the boys, other than Cemani and Breezy. Hubby said no to setting up a bantam coop and run.
Marble just watched me filling up the food and water. He was especially interested when I filled the grit feeder.
Tidbitting grit to the chicks
His perky tail!!!
Narcissus/daffodils. This is where I buried the chicklet.
One of the legbars is very weak. I cleaned it's butt yesterday because it was pasty, and I've been periodically taking it from under the heater to get a drink and offer food. Might make it a little pouch and tuck it in my shirt so I can keep an eye on it.
First though, my outside birds need food...
5 or 6, is the estimate from her owner. She got her from my cousin last year?
For a feed store Buff Orpington that was not interacted with much, she has done well. I'm just glad my cousin gave up keeping his flock when the fox rolled through and took around 1 a week. He didn't want to kill the...
Goldie bird, you are getting very handsome
I don't know what I'm going to do with you, or the silkie boys.
Nosy Posy is just adorable, and look at that perky polish tail!
Buffy is still rumply, she hasn't molted or laid an egg in my care. Maybe she's one of those disheveled old ladies that...
Got a "dinosaur egg shell" for kiddo, it's a blown ostrich egg. Super cool.
Stopped at a different farm and home on our way home and found white leghorns for my mother in law. Four...with an extra as "boy insurance"
And 2 cream legbars for kiddo since ours hatched out as boys.
