    Limping Chick

My little 2 week old Mini (Salmon Faverolle) is having a tough time. She was on the brink of death when we got her from the hatchery but I hovered over her for days (and nights) making sure she ate and drank. She isn't growing as quick as the other chicks but she is eating and drinking on her...

4 day old chick has matted feathers over open eye

I tried that and it is just not budging. I don’t know if she does but it kind of looks like it to me. It looks black… I try not to hold her too much and stress her out. She seems fine otherwise. Eating and drinking, pooping, active.

4 day old chick has matted feathers over open eye

We just received 10 chickens from a hatchery (originally ordered 6). Four showed up near death, and we lost 2 :( Anyway, today I noticed there is one with what looks like matted feathers over an open eye but it’s kind of hard to tell what’s going on and if her eye is possible to save. I want to...

Not sure it’s the right decision

I just hate thinking I made her suffer longer than she should have :( My sweet lady, Ophs. I love the idea of making a print of her foot, but I’m away at a conference in another state so my husband didn’t let me know she passed away until after all my sessions were done for the day (he knew I’d...

Not sure it’s the right decision

Thank you so much everyone. I can’t stop crying. My chickens have such a huge spot in my heart. Even if most people don’t understand the loss, I know you all do.

Not sure it’s the right decision

Update - she passed away today. I’m gutted. I loved my Ophelia and I hate I let her stay in pain too long :(

Not sure it’s the right decision

Her crop seems okay but she’s not eating much. I was originally worried about her being egg bound but can’t tell.

Not sure it’s the right decision

We are having a hard time even enticing her with mealworms but maybe I will see if she’ll eat some cat food or scrambled egg! She doesn’t seem to be eating much. Thanks!

Not sure it’s the right decision

Hey all, I have a chicken, Ophelia, who has been acting ill for a month and a half. No signs of sickness (runny nose or eyes, cough etc) or mites (been checking all my chickens often and clean coop obsessively). She has her tail down, has a really pale comb, isn’t laying any eggs, sleeping...

Bumble Foot with Green Swollen Toe??

Noticed one of my chickens a little more lethargic yesterday. Not moving as much. Today I saw her limping. Her right foot is the first pic. Little black spot. Does it look like bumble foot? That’s not even the one she’s limping on. Her left foot (remaining pics), has a similar little black spot...

Sooooooo happy to hear that! They developed very differently than my other pullets. Phew!

5 month old copper Marans. Gender?

These two I suspect of being males. They’re 5 months and no crowing yet. Blossom is the black one and Lilly is the blue one.

Gender of 12 week old blue and black copper Marans
