Pullet!
My EEs are almost 4 months and the roo has been so obvious for at least a month. Way more comb that yours, the curling over tail feather, the upright posture....my pullet's comb is a bit less pink than yours but about the same size. And mine have been very typical of what i've...
Looks EE? If so, i'd say pullet for sure because of the minimal comb at this age. Seems rather common for the EE girls to have a fairly upright stance.
Mine was iffy at 5 weeks (got 50/50 when posting here) and by 7 weeks it was for sure roo. From 6-7 weeks he looked more and more roo everyday--mostly the comb, but standing more upright, too.
My EE pullet looks just like Morgans, barely a comb at 14 or so weeks. Between the comb and those long, curling tail feathers I'd say you have another roo. My EE roo (supposed to be a pullet of course ) is about 14 weeks and hasn't crowed yet--hasn't acted like a roo at all really.
As a side...
I don't know how similar speckled are to light, but my SS boy (supposed to be pullet ) was very very boy by 6 weeks. Seemed like it was practically overnight, but very obvious by amount of comb.
The light ones look like buff Orps.
The medium red ones looks like Red Sex-links, or production reds.
#3 is an EE.
The rest look very very Game-y. Definitely NOT EEs.
And Brahmas have feathered legs. One is Welly colored but looks much too upright.
With my first bunch, 4 sex links and 2 EEs, they all act the same. One of the EEs turned out to be a roo, but the EE pullet is probably the most obnoxious and out going bird in the group. If it weren't for the feathering you'd never know the roo was a roo. They are still fairly young, 3...
What did it look like as a chick? I was thinking BSL, like someone else said. That's not quite the pattern that one of mine has but the amount of brown and everything else looks similar. They are solid babies, the GLW are kind of mottled.
The coloring looks EE, but usually you get the poofy...
BSL roos are supposed to have barring. I'd lean toward it not even being that breed. Was it an all black chick? I was thinking Australorp but they have yellowish fronts as chicks.
I think it's a pullet, maybe a bsl but just without the rust color--maybe some will show up later? There seems...
Okay, I guess I just didn't realize just how bad their night vision is!
They have been doing great about going in the coop since they moved out there almost 2 months ago. The EEs go to bed first, and the others follow a little later. They all roam our yard and this is the first they hadn't...
I got home kinda late tonight, it was dark, stepped onto the deck to go close the coop and there are feathered kids on the railing! Totally took me by surprise, they seem to go roost so early usually. I have 2 bunches of chickens, both born this spring, just the older ones were out. They...
