Easter Egger and Olive Egger confusion

Er, I suppose I should specifify that the bird has to have the genes for olive colored eggs. I say that 'cause obviously roosters don't lay eggs

Easter Egger and Olive Egger confusion

Yep, the only qualification is they lay olive green eggs, they can look like pretty much anything

    Coffee grounds!

Chickens are usually pretty good at avoiding eating anything toxic. I don't imagine they'd eat the grounds beyond perhaps a small taste test if that

Easter Egger and Olive Egger confusion

Easter eggers are a mixed breed that lays colored eggs, usually blue or green, olive eggers are mixed breeds that lay olive green eggs. Every olive egger is an easter egger but not every easter egger is an olive egger

What kind of chick food do you use?

Unmedicated, if coccidiosis pops up I'd have to use corrid anyways and I'd rather prevent it with other means like keeping the brooder clean and dry and controlled early exposure so they build up an immunity. Coccidiosis has never been a problem for me and I'd rather not medicate unless...

Want to own chickens again after 6 years…

No telling, every animal is an individual. I do doubt that the neighborhood cats will be a threat, especially if your birds grew up around them

Want to own chickens again after 6 years…

I also agree that a cat won't usually go after an adult bird, I feed the ferals here and they're afraid of my girls, and one of my easter eggers Ginkgo has no qualms about chasing any cat who steps out of line (ask poor Edgeworth who was simply wrestling with his brother Phoenix when Ginkgo...

Things you wish you could say

If you want me to better help you find something, please don't make up names for it and expect me to know what the crud you're talking about A customer came up to me earlier looking for a pipe cut, you'd think he was looking for a pipe cutter or something like that right? But no, he was looking...

    Orpington. Are they both males?

I do think you might be right, 1 looks to be a cockerel and 2 is certainly very suspicious but I'd give it a few weeks Here's what my buff orpington Juniper looked like at around that age for reference

Mareks. Can we ever get chickens again?

I'd do a month and yes, it is possible, that's why it's important to do a gradual introduction with the see but no touch method. Have the newcomers in an area where they and olive can see each other but not touch for a week or 2 and then put everyone together and see how it goes. If all goes...

Mareks. Can we ever get chickens again?

Sounds great to me, just make sure to quarantine first and do a gradual introduction

My dream flock and rooster woes

Fertilized eggs won't hatch unless you or a broody hen broods them. Collect eggs regularly and it won't matter if the eggs are fertilized or not. If possible, I'd wait until the next year to add him so the flock can teach him manners while he grows up

Things you wish you could say

After 2 hours and much annoyance later, I can say that I successfully mounted my "new" TV. It's dad's old one, he accidentally broke the remote so he got a new one, I can't say that's the route I would have taken, but it does mean I get a free TV (I am a simple gal, a TV doesn't have to be big...

Things you wish you could say

And on a similar note why can't they just use a philipshead screw like they do for all the other screws, for the ones that actually go into the wall, I am not buying a new bit set for my drill just for this (thankfully I do have a ratchet but still)

That I remembered how I mounted this TV in the first place >.<

Are these good beginner breeds that play well with chickens?

You can mix in brewer's yeast with their feed to make sure they are getting enough, with pekins you'd want to do that anyways even if you feed duck feed 'cause they're so prone to deficiencies (ik you switched out the pekin, but just for future reference in case you decide you'd like some in the...

    Any Gamers Here?

I probably won't get a switch 2, thanks to humble bundle, I already have a very large steam library (434 games currently) and I generally don't game on the go, nearly all of my gaming is done at home so while I was sorely tempted, I couldn't even justify the expense of getting a switch, other...

    Any Gamers Here?

So I accidentally stayed up all night playing persona 5 royal. I just wanted to get past the first boss, didn't think it'd take that long lol. Part of the problem I think was my party is underleveled. Did I have enough time to spend a day leveling? Yes. Did I? Nope. Once such incident that was...

    Any Gamers Here?

I thought about trying way of the hunter but figured I already have one large hunting game, I don't need 2 especially since I own almost all the dlc for cotw other than a few weapon packs and the cosmetic packs (got most of the dlc when humble bundle had their cotw bundle a few years ago). In...
