Thank you for the help! I really appreciate the information!

Need Help with Potential Sour Crop

Is the squishy crop not an indication of sour crop? Does she need more symptoms like burping/regurgitating and foul breath? And just to note, she's no longer wobbly! She's walking just fine now, and her crop is smaller. So that's why I thought she had been making some progress generally! Would...

Need Help with Potential Sour Crop

Her keel bone feels prominent, but I think it usually does, too? She's always been kind of scrawny since the Leghorns have been smaller than the others we have. So it's hard for me to say if it's more prominent than normal. And she was sort of isolating herself. Just hanging out in the coop and...

Need Help with Potential Sour Crop

Thanks for the reply! She's about 4.5 years old. As far as I can tell, it's been a number of weeks since she last laid an egg. I can't remember the last time I'd see one, but it's been at least a month. But she kinda got burned out after 3+ years old, too, so she had been laying more...

Need Help with Potential Sour Crop

Hello, I think my Leghorn hen has sour crop, but I'm not positive. Her crop feels firm but squishy. I can't really smell anything on her breath, but it's been difficult to try, too. She's been in the house for several days though. I first noticed her walking wobbly and then noticed her full...

    Metal Shed for Ducks?

I know there are a few other threads about metal sheds, but I think I've seen more so for chickens, so I wanted to post to check. Could one be okay for ducks (and maybe some chickens since they were raised by ducks)? I'm worried about the heat in the summer and the cold in the winter. I think...

HELP! Chick Hatched, Red Substance Outside Body?

Are you sure? More of what looked like intestines came out, it's all from the vent. I don't really have a teacup, just coffee mugs. Does it need to be wide and low sized? Edit: What about a bowl?

HELP! Chick Hatched, Red Something Outside Body!!

Really? A couple days?? I was trying to find how long they survive like this, I didn't expect it to be up to that long. I've never had to cull an animal before, that's been my fiancé's job. But he had to go out of town this weekend, so very bad timing.

HELP! Chick Hatched, Red Something Outside Body!!

Yeah, that's what I was afraid of. It looks like it's hanging out from its vent and doesn't look like a yolk sac but instenstines. 😔

HELP! Chick Hatched, Red Substance Outside Body?

I can't tell for sure, I think rear? I'm afraid to pick it up and harm it more.

HELP! Chick Hatched, Red Something Outside Body!!

I can see that it's hanging out from its vent. Is it a prolapse? Is it the yolk sac not being absorbed?

HELP! Chick Hatched, Red Substance Outside Body?

Sorry, I'm posting here and hatching threads because I'm worried this is critical. I haven't gotten too touchy on it because I'm scared to hurt it. What is it?? What can I do to help?? It's crying a lot!

    Does This Chick Need Help?

Actually, follow-up question. It was able to come out of the shell but with a lot of liquid. Like maybe unabsorbed yolk sac? It leaked down into the water part of the incubator. The others didn't have this happen. Is there anything I need to do?

    Does This Chick Need Help?

This chick pecked more on one end of the egg rather than in the mide, and I can see its mouth sticking out. Does it need help? It looks like it's really breathing hard. The other ones that hatched were more from the middle.

Why wont my geese swim in their pond?

We just recently put fish into our new big pond. And the geese have recently been less inclined to swim in it. I just realized they may be afraid of them and came online to see if there's anything I can do. Is there a way to get them less afraid?
