I am unable, while using my Nurture 360, to get the humidity lower than about 60-64% and it has been this way for days. I have tried keeping the lid slightly open a crack on one end, which pulls it down to 49% ( more normal). Is it okay to just proceed this way until the machine goes up to 65%...
I know this isn't exactly an answer to your question, but I've noticed that different breeds of roosters' crows can be more frequent/ annoying than others, so maybe research this? I have 2 Silkie roosters or different color varieties whose crows are both extremely high pitched and frequent. One...
I am currently in SW Virginia and contemplating a move to South Texas with my flock, which includes about 10 Marans, 2 Barred Rocks, and 2 Sapphire Gems. Can these cold-hardy breeds do okay in hot climates? If so, what do you do to keep them cool? Thanks
Thank you! I just figured out the cause of the high humidity: my pet sitter filled the 1st and 2nd water compartments, which shouldnt both be filled until lockdown. I drained the 2nd one and humidity is going down.
They are chicken eggs that I collected from my chickens. The oldest are 9 days old, then I have some 8 day, 7 day, and 6 day old eggs, all collected. Are the different development stages affecting the humidity in the incubator? Do you think the 65% for up to 2 days has killed them?
My new Nurture 360 incubator was showing 55% for the humidity until we got home from a weekend trip to discover, at day 9 of incubation, it was on 65% and since yesterday, is on 65%. I had asked my pet sitter to add 1/4 cup of water to it each day, as I was worried about humidity levels falling...
She was beautiful. An Easter Egger, I think. I have two that look very similar to her that my Ace Hardware labels " Americana," which is just another name for Easter Egger. Yours looks like she has some Partridge Pendesenca in her somewhere, which is a breed they use to create Easter Eggers. I...
I have a 7 month old Buff Brahma rooster, Franklin, in a flock of 36 hens and 3 other Silkie roosters, none of which bother the hens much. Franklin seems to like just 2 or 3 of the hens much more than the others and doesn't even mate half the time- instead harasses by stepping on the ( smaller...
I bought a BCM pullet from Deer Run Farm last Fall that I had to cull because it was so aggressive towards my chicks that I was trying to integrate at the time. I'm not sure if obtaining her as a pullet, where she was raised free range, but in a group of other chickens rather than hand-raised...
