Well, my sweet pekins have to be seperated from my chooks :( they are very randy, and causing serious stress. For now they are free range, we are home all day, but when school starts back up, they have to find a new home. What are the odds, out of 20 ducklings to choose from and stated 90%...
Question, I have clay eggs in the nest boxes, and three of my hens are laying. Today one went into the nest box and just sat on the clay egg. I left her alone waited for her to come out, and when she did I went to get the egg. She didn't lay an egg, and the clay egg was warm. Don't think she's...
I have given eggs to the neighbors, this usually helps the transition. While I was building the coop sometime called the city to report, and the only complaint the city had was that the structure was close to the property line. Well that wasn't a problem because the neighbor who complained...
So my rr laid her second egg today, but no egg song, honestly I think we have the quietiest chooks around! The pekin drakes are louder then the hens! I can hear the neighbors chooks singing egg songs all day!
So yesterday my daughter went to check for eggs, one almost shelless from the production red, and she thought that was all. Cane home from work, and saw the pekin drake rolling something around in the run, ran in there to see what the heck he had, and it was a small white egg! Looked around...
Today the fair will hopefully bring homes for the pekin Drakes, and hopefully some ducklings! Our drakes are so sweet right now, so part of me wants to keep them, unfortunately I am not home every day, and can't watch them to make sure they don't hurt the chickens. I knew this going in, that if...
Thank you....appears as if I was incorrect with the amount of fowel we are allowed to have, when I read this it states 6 over 6 months and 6 under 6 months. Do you understand this to be a total of twelve to the age of 6 months, if so we are under the 6 months of age (they are 5 months now), we...
Thank you, can anyone tell me how many fowel we are allowed in the city (Eugene Or). I had our pekin ducks sexed, and they are both male, and if we can have 12, we can get three hens and keep the drakes, if we can't i will have to re home the drakes.
I did think about that, we would have to pen the drakes seperately as they could kill chickens trying to mate with them. We were looking forward to duck eggs.... so adding three females would be fun, now just to get dear husband on board....our city ordinance allows 12 total fowel.
Help, found out how to sex my Pekins......two drakes. We got them from Wilco, I will call them to see if they can help find homes. I'd you are interestedin two drakes... Let me know. Daughter is in tears, told her we will get new babies, but can't until we have homes for the drakes :(
