We have chicks that are two weeks old this past Monday and babies that are one week old today. I need to combine them. Do I have to worry about doing this or should they be close enough in age as it not be an issue.? Also any suggestions on how I should do it for most success?
I am a catastrophic think we as well as it seems there are so many new issues you have raising chickens that I did not know about. My chicks went back to their normal colors after a weeks or so. I am guessing it was from stress of the their new addition added to their coop. I hear stress can...
The curled toes are in both feet and honestly do not seem improving. She is happy, eating and laying eggs but has curled toes and not walking well. Here is another question: should I worry about her being in same area ( not same coop) as our new chicks that are coming next week. We have had...
So update: Bella seems healthy but still not walking great. She stands on her legs but after walking a bit her toes seem to curl and she struggles. She looks great , happy eating and we are still doing vitamins . She lays eggs pretty regularly . She is still on her own in a separate coop. We...
A couple of days ago we added an addition to our chicken coop. It gives them a great deal more space . Since then we noticed two things changed. They are not going in their coop before the automatic door shuts( they never have done this) . The coop part has not been changed at all. Just gave...
It has been two and a half weeks of vitamin b and poultry cell and vitamin rich foods. Definitely improving and walking about 5 steps and standing a great deal. Bella walks odd . She walks on her toes kind of. She was not walking at all so it is much improved but wondering if this is what you...
We are seeing some improvement in Bella. We have been really getting the vitamins into her and today she was up all the way in her legs. Legs stretched fully out and toes straight out not curling as much. She has been taking vitamin B , poultry cell and scrambled eggs loaded up with nutritional...
Bella is alert and normal in every way except her leg. We started the vitamin B a couple of days ago and trying very hard to get the poultry cell into her although she absolutely hates it! We are doing our best but are completely lost as to what her issue is. Injury, Vitamin B issues or Marek's...
So update: Bella is still not walking. Her toes on left foot are curled. Not right foot . She is walking on her hocks on left. It has been a struggle to get the vitamin b into her as well as the poultry cell. She does not like either one and is very difficult with the process. She laid a second...
So she just ate scrambled egg, her food made wet and broccoli , watermelon as well as her vitamin b supplement. . She also is getting up a lot more and although that left food is curled it seemed a little stronger. Does anyone have a way to get her poultry cell into her. She does not seem to...
We are so overwhelmed and not knowing what to do for her. Thank you all for your help. I feel responsible with the feed even though I do not know if that is the cause. She is hardly eating. We got some of the poultry cell into her and will try more later. She is alert , but unable to walk much...
Thank you. We are going to up her B vitamins and use poultry cell as well. We are also changing her food as well as other chickens for a while to crumble or pellets . Thank you for your help. She is breaking my heart:(
Question: I read on another post that the food we are feeding her, Henhouse Reserve , although a good food that because it is whole grains that chicken pick out what they like and become vitamin deficient. Could this be Bella’s issue? We are starting here on pellet or crumbles and adding poultry...
We have been having an issue with our 7 month old chicken with a leg issue . One leg has gotten weak and she has been on this food. Could it be that she has been picking out the things she likes and now developed a vitamin deficiency? We had never thought of that. Would switching her to a...
Getting up a little more but her left leg is not doing well. Right is fine. I am hoping time and rest will heal her. She has dark gray and black legs so difficult to see any bruising . She is curling her toes to hold on to my husband’s hand with that foot, so I feel that is a good sign
Thank you . Yes it seems to be more injury like as it is on the left side primarily. We have her confined to a small area with food and water close. Nature will do what nature needs to do. We will try and help Bella rest and heal. If she does not, she was just not strong enough and we do not...
