Does anyone know what genes it would take to make a millefleur similar to this picture from https://sedgwickcommon.co.uk/lemon-millefleur/#gid=1&pid=2? I think it was called lemon millefleur. I'm pretty sure they used the inhibitor of gold gene according to this website...
Does anyone have any pictures of lacing/incomplete lacing with mottling (not spangling!) or other patterns (pencilling, double lacing, etc) with mottling? If I can't find any I'll just have to make my own lol to see whether they look cool. Thanks!
Soooo I'm posting again. One of my 8 month old hens, Jinu, got a prolapse. She lives with one rooster and 14 other hens. She's fed 16% layer feed. I supplement more protein with meat scraps and offer oyster shells.
I found it last night at 11 PM and brought her inside to clean it. Her...
I have two 5-6 year old White Orpington hens named Buffy and Bumpy. When I introduce 1-2 month old human-raised chicks to the flock they act broody and follow the chicks around and broody growl at some of the other hens when they go near them until they are 3-4 months old. The chicks honestly...
Does anybody have any experience with shipped eggs from Foxfire Farms (https://www.foxfirefarmspoultry.com/)? I am going to be getting Pavlovskaya and Swedish Flower Hens. Have you been impressed with the quality of your birds? Thanks for responding!
I live in the Seward Peninsula in Alaska (as in Nome not Seward lol) so it is very cold and windy. I have had very bad luck with hatchery stock, but when I hatched my own mixed breed they did great!
Vision:
Look like willow ptarmigan with summer plumage (barred tolbuntish :))
very cold hardy...
One of my 5 year old Orpingtons has always had raspy (Darth Vader) breathing and I've always figured she had a deformity. I'll post a picture of her, but she's not a normal chicken...shape. Like no neck, all fluff, no tail feathers. Her two sisters from the same hatchery look normal but she has...
This is an “Americana” which is apparently not an ameraucana but more like an Easter egger. Opinions on her color and what she would look like in a genetic calculator? She looks a lot like a silver ameraucana but an edge of red around her feathers.
.
This little guy is the chick of the hen...
So first of all let me introduce the birds.
Chainsaw, a who knows what 5-8 year old hen. She does have a little crest and looks like a cream legbar but lays white eggs. She also seems a lot lighter than a normal leg bar. Probably a hatchery "specialty." (She only looks mad because I interrupted...
I have a chick that I hatched 2 days ago that is acting very lethargic. I noticed he was walking stiffly about 30 minutes ago, so I took him out to check him over. He got more lethargic so I gave him sugar water. He currently can’t stand and has his eyes closed. Any suggestions?
He’s in an...
I have a five year old Orpington hen with watery eyes and loud darth Vadery breathing. She is also shaped very differently than her sisters. She is from a hatchery so maybe they mixed her with a broiler?!
This is one of her sisters.
This is another hen of mine who has kind of puffy and not...
These are just overall questions I have about chicken keeping. Let me know if I put it in the wrong subforum.
Where I live it can get to the negative 20's or lower in winter. The lighting in winter is 4-6 hours long so we put a LED light in since they were not eating enough to keep themselves...
I'm putting some eggs in the incubator tomorrow and was wondering what they may look like when they hatch! The dad is a mix between a barred Plymouth Rock and most likely a white orpington. His dad was a barred rock and he looks just like him. The possible moms are a brown leghorn, silver laced...
I have an almost 5 year old hen with vent fleet and bumble foot. She constantly has gurgly sounds coming from her belly. I don’t think she’s laid an egg in four months or more. At night she pants (it’s like 60 degrees) and blinks super slowly (maybe she’s just tired) like she’s dying, but in the...
My almost 4 year old hen is unable to put weight on one of her legs. To me it looks like her foot is paralyzed from the hock down. Several weeks ago I noticed her limping, and brought her inside as the limp got worse. After 4 days inside a dog crate and no treatment besides forced rest she...
