    Yep hdowden thats what i'm running into too ...the red/bronze color on the head is throwing me off. The Grey is a very soft almost dove grey everywhere except the head...i've been looking all over the different sites and haven't seen a bird yet that looks like this little one

    Final verdict ..White ones are White Wyandottes, the Brown are Welsummers, the Black and White are an Excequer leghorn and a Silver Spangled Hamburg ..they grew into very nice looking adult birds.

    from the TSC - assorted Bantam bin (Mt Healthy Hatchery) Anyone have a guess on this one? I'm pretty sure about the others but this one has me stumped.

    What Breed?

    My guesses are- Nugget- Silver spangled hamburg (looks a lot like mine from MM last year) 4- Welsummer 5 and 6 - Australorp (bottom of feet pinkish white) or Jersey Giant (bottom of feet yellow) I ordered the rainbow layer collection from them last year and the birds are great!

    We are in Indiana they have the chicks blocked off here too. Our local TSC is great and the staff is very helpful we got 12 chicks and they took the time to catch the ones we wanted.     Broody Hen Thread!

    Silly question but ...my broody hatched 6 chicks..do i feed them chick starter or just the same layer feed momma chicken gets?
