Hatching Eggs available from my Large Fowl. I specialize in Colored Egg Layers and dual purpose American Heritage Breeds. I breed to both the Standard of Perfection and for egg color when appropriate. I have had the same breeds, and only these breeds for at least 6-8 years, and keep closed...
I am in North Florida and will have chicks from my Exhibition Line. ( I have a Good Shepard x Stukel) quad. Here is a young cockerel-
I also have a Utility Line I created by crossing Delaware to GS Barred Rocks. They are 3/4 Rock and 1/4 Del, and do not have the crisp barring of the show line...
Hi! I have Marans, Olive Eggers, Welsummers, and both Lavender and Wheaten/Blue Wheaten Ameraucanas. I am just north of Gainesville. I mainly sell day old straight run chicks and am just now starting a wait list and plan to start setting eggs after the holidays. FL people get first priority in...
Leslie, I do not have direct experience with what you are showing. My issue has been, and continues to be brassiness/yellowing. I think they are different because the coloring you are showing is looking a reddish brown in the pics. Also you say this appears after the molt. What I see occurs...
I am going to guess that the harsh midday light is making these look more yellow than they actually are. I get the most accurate color in morning or overcast light. These are a little younger, but are their brothers. The photos are not good, but the color is close.
Three left in this age...
It sounds like you are enjoying your NHs Robert, and are doing a good job evaluating them. I like the weights at the 5 month mark. George's advice and mentoring is priceless.
I have two groups of younger birds I am still evaluating, but so far have kept these two pullets. They are 26 weeks and...
I guess I did not go into enough of an explanation on the trimming around the vent. I have found that sometimes fertility is not always high enough in the early part of the season to get good hatches, but I am anxious to start hatching in Jan/Feb before it gets to hot here. It is possible that...
I have not dressed out any. I don't have a problem with it and have done some in the past, it is just a time thing, as well as a freezer space issue. We raise our own pork, as well as having a big garden and lots of venison and fish. When I do process, I find it easier to do a bunch at a time...
I have been asked by several people about my Delawares, so I will share some background here.
I got started with them in 2010. I found a local woman that was raising them for meat and had been selecting breeders based on weight for several years. The result was a large and early maturing bird...
I do not have enough F1 hens (that are not broody) right now to do all F1 eggs. I could probably collect 7-8 eggs in 3 or 4 days and the rest could be F2s.
Yes, I am working on Welbars in both Silver and Gold LF, as well as Silver Duckwing. I am at the F3 stage with some of them. Here are 3 F2 pullets, solids on the outside and barred in the middle.
Egg color is respectable...Top row is a full Welsummer egg on the left and 3 different Silvers...
Rancher, to be very safe as far as temps go, I would say that when your extended forecast shows the low temps above 30 around delivery time would be best. I have shipped eggs when temps were much colder than that and they have done quite well, but that assumes they are not left sitting on a...
I do. It might not be the best time to ship, with NY day on Wed, but I could send some out Fri of next week, or the following Monday. Send me a PM if interested.
