    Rooster with rough, scaly skin

Amen to that. He tries though and will usually fit my chickens in that day or the next. I try educating him to what I have learned in here, not sure he’s listening. How much H&S per gallon, and it’s ok to not rinse off? Thank you!

    Rooster with rough, scaly skin

I lost a hen a couple of years ago who had something similar, but her skin was moist. I thought it might be Mareks but I took her to the vet and he didn’t seem to think so. Not sure he knows a lot about Mareks.

Ok I will try this, thank you! The weather here is definitely warming up? I don’t need to rinse the soap off?

    Rooster with rough, scaly skin

Hi, my rooster has hard, crusty skin. I thought it might be Favus but the skin is dry and tough. Almost like he has one big scab. Photos attached, not sure if they show the condition as accurately as in person. I tried Miconazole spray, cream and another “cure all” spray (photo attached)...

    Favus or Thrush?

Hi I found your post and have been dealing with something similar. What do you attribute your hen’s recovery to? The Ivermectin or the miconazole? I hope your girl is still doing well! Thank you!

    Medicox

I have a sick hen. She had an infected foot and a little blood in her stool and diarrhea so I gave her Corid and oxytetracycline (all that I had until vet came back from vacation). Her stools immediately formed up and looked great but then I lowered the dose of Corid, per instructions and she is...

    Which one For (trichomonosis)

I spoke with two vets who said it would probably be OK to eat the eggs after a couple of months. It’s been a year and a half since I treated my flock. I mostly feed the eggs back to the chickens but I occasionally eat them. I don’t think anyone knows for sure. I thought I heard that...

    Roundworm treatment

Glad I am not the only one. I try so hard to be a good chicken tender and the only problem really is my mind getting in the way.

    Roundworm treatment

He actually weighs 3.5 lbs. I weigh him in kilograms then convert in a spreadsheet. So many numbers to keep up with. lol. This as my first time to use valbazen and it was early in the morning. That’s my excuse. Thanks for your response.

    Roundworm treatment

He weighs 1.485 kg, about 3 lbs? I get confused with all the decimals, obviously. Thank you for responding so quickly.

    Roundworm treatment

Help! I overdosed valbazen. I gave 2 ml when I should have given .2 ml. Have I killed my rooster? Is there anything I can do?

Am I crazy for wanting to sell my whole flock

Not sure what happened with you and your flock, but I have used rover.com to take care of my chickens. The lady charged me $25 per visit for the entire flock, not per bird. Hope all is working out for you!

    Broody hen and eggs found

I live in a semi rural area and there have been chickens killed at night when outside of a protected area. However my biggest fear is a snake killing the chicks when they hatch. I have a resident rat snake. So I will leave them inside the nest box in the coop and as you suggested closed her...

    Broody hen and eggs found

Well, here’s a development! I put the eggs in a nest box in the hen house, and Pearl, my white Cochin, started to sit on them! Flappy, the black hen went back out to the compost pile where there are no eggs!

    Broody hen and eggs found

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. This little black hen is my favorite, she’s the only one who lets me pick her up and she sometimes jumps up on my back if I’m bent over working. I’m guessing she’s half Cochin and half bantam game hen. She’s tiny. My neighbor had told me he wanted to get...
