within 24 hours the “swelling” went down and was reunited with mom and siblings! I believe it was the yolk sac still being absorbed! Thanks for asking 😊☺️
Mom had 7 eggs initially, a few days later I went to check on her and she had added 3 more eggs to her clutch. That being said, one stopped developing some time around day 11ish. Hatch day was the 14th. First one hatched a day early. This one hatched today. He had hatching trouble.. he was stuck...
Do you have any pictures of it now? I should have 2 of these hatching and one of them looks very similar to yours. I just thought it was one of the leghorn x dark Brahma!
I am so excited either way! Thanks 😊I was really hoping for a Brahma hen mostly because their colors and patterns are more appealing to me. These babies weren’t planned lol but I’d really like to learn more about the genetics so I can predict more and hopefully learn. One thing I have learned...
So I have just a few questions, I have 1 rooster that free ranges with 7 hens and 1 bantam hen. A hen is sitting on some eggs and I’m just curious what to expect from them? I have 5 Leghorn x dark Brahma, 3 French cuckoo maran x dark Brahma, and 2 Rhode Island Red x dark Brahma. I’m dumb when it...
So we have 4 roosters and 8 hens. They are in small pens Right now and separated because they fight each other. We would like to build some new more spacious pens for them but I'm not sure a good size for a single rooster, and for a breeding pen. And what is a good fencing that won't mess up...
Only 13 out of 16 survived the first month, now only 8 out of 13 survived the edge of Harvey. And only one chick has deformed feet. Can I correct his feet or is he gonna be the odd one out? He's slower than the rest too..
No we have way too many! We moved the youngest babies and the hen that has molted the worst, she has maybe 10 feathers left.. but that's all we could move without all of them fighting!
Everyone in South East/central Texas, how are y'all keeping your birds safe from Harvey? We just lost one of our Bantams.. they don't have much cover and I feel terrible but I have nothing to help keep them out of the rain that won't fly away in this stupid crazy weather!! We moved all we could...
We have had our rounds of foul pox and we use VetRX to treat it, which usually takes a couple weeks to clear our chickens up. Is there a more effective way? Or any way to PREVENT it all together? Our new batch of 13 2 month old babies is starting to get the "blisters" on their beak and eyes...
Haha I will talk to him and see what he says. They are all pinned up together and 3 are bullies and 2 have pretty tails the others don't have much of a tail:/ I'll go take some pictures
Lol sorry... My husband can't decide if he REALLY wants to sell any. Cuz his warhorse died July 7th. A Hawk came down while he was in a tie cord and poor rooster had no where to run!:( So the babies are all we have left of him..
We have 3 hen silkie crosses, 2 rooster silkie crosses, 3 hen silkie crosses hatch lol, 2 grey hens, 1 hatch hen, 2 kelso hens, 1 grey mug rooster, 1 brown red rooster, and 1 Tennessee kelso rooster those are the adults we have. For the babies we have a cardinal club/ grey hen. We have 3...
Well we first got chickens in 2014 around Easter time and we ended up with 2 silkies and 3 idk what they were but they were a dark red maybe brown colored. The only rooster from the 5 was a yellow silkie. These are the 3rd generation of them. If I didn't know I wouldn't be able tell they were...
