    Muscovy Duck Eggs

I just candled one yesterday and it was internally pipped. Does this mean hatch will be with 72 hours?

    Muscovy Duck Eggs

Hey I currently have a broody muscovy duck laying on almost 20 eggs. I have to leave town for a few days on July 12th so I decided to candle a few of her eggs. Any idea when these will hatch? I want to make sure I am here when they hatch so I can move her and any babies into a secure coop with...

Rooster or Hen? 6 Week old Silkie

Trying to determine if this is a male or female. It’s a 6 week old (born april 28th) silkie mix. Please let me know what you think. Thanks!

    Question about Incubating Bantam Eggs

I see. The broody hens make it look so easy and have always given me great hatches (90%+) but incubators have always given me a headache lol. My temp is steady at 99.5 but I will try to keep the humidity stable between 30-40% and see what happens. Thanks!

    Question about Incubating Bantam Eggs

I see, I’ve noticed sometimes during the day mine will get as high as 51% but at nights drops to about 28%. Would this huge swing cause issues or is it more of an “average” over the entire day?

    Question about Incubating Bantam Eggs

Do you ever have issues with dry membranes? I’ve tried reading a lot of forums and some people recommend 40-55% humidity the first 18 days. I’ve also read that people get better hatches with low humidity (30-35% like you mentioned). I’m just curious if bantam eggs are any different than regular...

    Question about Incubating Bantam Eggs

Okay great! With no water added my incubator reads between 32-35% so i’ll likely run it with no water for the first 18 days then add water for the last few days when i remove the automatic egg turners

    Question about Incubating Bantam Eggs

Hey I have a maticcoopx (20 egg) incubator, I have currently been using it just as a backup for if a broody hen abandons the nest (or leaves some eggs after the first chicks hatch). I want to attempt to incubate my bantam eggs in it now but before I do I wanted to get some information on what...

HELP Chick Not Absorbing Veins and Yolk

It finally absorbed those huge veins but was struggling to kick out of the dry membrane. Ended up making a small slit with some sterile scissors and he was able to kick himself out shortly after. Easily my longest hatch ever but happy it came out healthy!

HELP Chick Not Absorbing Veins and Yolk

I sure hope so! Currently still breathing and “chewing” i’m hoping he’s absorbing everything and getting ready to hatch since his initial pip was now about 30-31 hours ago

HELP Chick Not Absorbing Veins and Yolk

Incubator is at 99 with humidity at 72%. I still see the veins and some yellow stuff as seen in my pictures above. At what point will he no longer be able to survive in the egg like that? Will i need to slowly peel the membrane and break him free? Given that I still see the veins I believe it...

HELP Chick Not Absorbing Veins and Yolk

HELP Chick Not Absorbing Veins and Yolk

I found this chick pipped under the broody hen 26 hours ago. His beak was not at the pip location so I picked the egg up to investigate and the membrane was dry, there was no movement, and I didn’t hear any pips. I placed him in the incubator for a few hours while I did some research. I read...

    Muscovy Laid Soft Egg

I bought 5 muscovies a few months ago and I believed I had 4 females and 1 male. 1 duck has a lot more red in his face, has larger feet, and does not trill so I assumed he was a male. They are all around 6 months old but today I found a soft/rubbery egg. I checked the camera expecting one of the...

Help Me Determine the Sex of my Muscovy Ducks

Also, when I got the black ones, they were probably at least a 1/3 smaller than some of the other ducks from that clutch (some were literally larger than the mom hen already). I just assumed the larger ones were male since I got them when they already had most of their feathers. @Crazy Maizie

Help Me Determine the Sex of my Muscovy Ducks

I have chickens (bantams), so I was really hoping to have that 1 male and 4 female ratios. When I got the two ones with the tan head the last owner vented all 6 of her ducklings and gave me the two that she thought were most likely to be female. When I got the two black ones and the all-white...

Help Me Determine the Sex of my Muscovy Ducks

@Crazy Maizie @Miss Lydia Hey here are some more pictures. I tried getting some from above and some with their legs from the side. Hopefully you can make an educated guess based on these pictures. Again they're all around 15-17 weeks. The two with the tan faces are from the same clutch and the...
