I did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING in the garden today. Temperatures have dropped by 40° from yesterday and coincidentally the unrelenting wind from sunup to sundown had gusts above 40 mph. The dogs loved it.
I've got a squash surprise also. When starting seeds, something with a big ol' squash leaf came up in one of the scallion pots. I can't hardly wait too see what I'll get! I'm sure it's a winter variety. Summer squash look "different".

I'm putting in winter squash for 2 reasons - 1, it tastes good and the variety I love best is hard to find down here, and 2, like you, I want to fill an entire raised bed quickly and easily. The pie pumpkins are being grown in an area across the yard so if vine borers or squash bugs attack one...
