    Hi! These four month old gals were supposed to be blue copper marans. I don’t think that’s the case 😅 any ideas? They both have very dark skin, single combs, clean legs. One has never had a tail and the other is now growing one in.

    For anyone who might still be following, this chicken (still not laying) has taken another chicken’s egg (brown, can’t be hers) and is guarding it with her life in the coop.

    Thanks for the very direct insight. It’s confusing because she makes little “nests” in the coop floor, pulls out her tummy feathers and protects the area even though, as we are all very aware 😅, there is NO egg.

    Mareks?

    Sadly, I do think it is Marek’s. We lost a Faverolle at that exact age to Marek’s with the exact same symptoms. She had no response to supplements etc and passed shortly after. I’m sorry, I hope it’s not the case!
