Not that I'm aware of but my last two males, Kettle and Taz, were both BYMs and had head crests, so anything is possible. They (I don't which one) are the fathers of ...

. . . so the last set of white bantam eggs I hatched, all the chicks hatched out black...
With all this broody business I forgot to candle this last set of eggs in the incubator. They're at day 13 so I might as well wait until day 17.
Back to securing the yard for broody raised chicks . . .
Socka's nest . . . in the henhouse where almost everyone lays
Reese's nest . . presumably all hers I haven't seen any other girls jump the fence to lay an egg and most of the others lay brown.
Sweety's nest after being moved to a clean bay . . . I might swap those out for fresh eggs since...
I just hope they're the only 3, if not I'll spread the 28 eggs around to keep the timing in sync and not end up with more chicks than I can handle.
I have people asking about 'laying hens' pretty regularly so these will most likely be sold as such since I have no idea which eggs are whose at...
I did some 'eggnapping' and reduced each pullet to 10 eggs each. Reese only had 8 so I left those. Socka and Sweety had 20 and 24. Sweety is a small girl and could barely cover the 10 I gave back to her.
Sweety's clutch of eggs are also pretty dirty because an egg cracked in the bay she went...
I just candled the eggs I nabbed and I didn't see much in the way of development. I can usually see something going on at day 5-7, so I assume they're all on bout the same time table . . . less than a week in.
They're also the eggs that weren't at the center of the clutch, so they could've been...
I managed to handle all 3 broodies and reduce their egg haul down to 10 each, 1 girl only had 8 so I left them. I moved the one girl from the dirty bay to a clean one. She went right back to sitting, I think that's because I let her watch me move and mark them. Her eggs are particularly filthy...
I currently have 3 broodies in 3 different parts of the yard. I'd like to move them all to the run but I'm not sure when or how to do it properly.
The 1st is in the hen house and keeping some of the others from laying in it. The 2nd is in a side yard that isn't secure enough for tiny chicks...
She is why I went gaga for chickens  :love.
She was the first chick I hatched, piped and unzipped in less than 30 mins. She was alone for about an hour until the next chick arrived, but I held her and kept her company while we both waited anxiously for the next chick.
She also had a...
Broody #3 Sweety . . . just went broody tonight as far as I can tell.
She was running around the yard earlier, but she could've been just stretching her legs when I saw her.
What kind of unholy contagion is this . . .
3rd Broody . . . still not a BO :idunno
This is Sweety my favorite pullet and Reese's mom. I guess she decided she wouldn't be outdone by her daughter.
3 of 19 have gone broody . . .
You're probably right, but I've handled the BOs more often because I want to be able to handle the chicks when they hatch.
The other girls it's anybody's guess if I'll get violently wing slapped and pecked or be allowed to handle their babies. :idunno
Apparently I'm doubling down on the broody situation.
This is Reese she just turned 7 months today. She's one of the 2nd gens from Sweety my favorite pullet. And she is also apparently my white egg layer, all the eggs under her 7-8 are all white.
She's been sneaking into the side yard laying...
