Thanks for such thorough information!
I have a stumbling silkie, and am trying to,find out why. I have no new chickens, but I did notice mites. I have to tackle the whole flock. **sigh**
I still have the original cement trays I posted about and it's been over 2 years.
I also scour craigslist for cheap things I can use for my babies....I found a pond shape, which sat in my yard for 3 years before I skipped the Mr. Man part and simply set it up.
I found broken up cement and had...
They need to stick the whole beak in, so nipples would be an issue. I like the small cement mixing tray you can get from Home improvement stores. Big enough they can actually bathe, small enough that it is not that much water. I tend to fill it 2-3 times a week, based on how messy they make it...
After searching for an easier solution to the kiddie pool dumping and getting sun damage......I found it works to use cement mixing pans found at lowes and home depot! I have two small, and two large.
Extremely easy to dump, easy for them to get in and out, and so far the sun has not damaged...
Lol this is exactly why I was searching....my gander was extremely rough with my daughter's favorite chicken, a sweet docile buff Orpington . I ran up and he still hung on! I had to pry his beak off her head.
Today's episode was the worst.
He may become Christmas dinner instead of his...
So I had a good hatch! Bonnie and Clyde are two Pilgim's born 4/29/2013 and they came from Metzer farms.
My intention was to keep one girl and sell the rest, so I put an ad in Crais
Gas list and got four replies.
One wanted 2girls and a boy. Check:weee
One wanted two girls (and requested they...
Totally. So we have another girl, and one boy!!
There are still 5 that are all mid-hatch~pretty good for her first brood I think! My daughter thinks the rest may be females but I am hoping at least one is male, simply because I have another potential buyer and it sounds like they would be ideal...
GOSLING FEVER!!!!
I get it!!!
They were due yesterday and last night I has four eggs with holes big enough to see they are girls, a couple others were externally pipped. One was soup, and when I cracked it open ( in a bag, over the garbage can) it looked like scrambled eggs, and didn't stink...
I notice when the wings start to get bigger and the shoulder feathers start to peek out is when mine droop their wings. Of course, I have only raised 4.....
I give mine chick growth at night. They get diapered when they come in, they are allowed to wander and explore and they discovered the...
They are poster cute! Congrats!
I am hoping this weekend I will have fuzzbutts.....I already have five of them spoken for :frow
It's a good thing though, I am only keeping one girl, that is if I have an extra! Girls are in high demand apparently. I don't want another gander, and I don't want...
You have a mighty cute GANDER there!!!
and you will have 8 goslings to tend to as well, I am exhausted for you!
I am gonna share this snap I took this evening. My Sebbies got denied water and food in their box tonight, so I left them a stuffed bunny I bought for them to pick at. Seems they...
Psue, how cute! Love the one in the lower left corner, still got the shiny look, pre fluff!
Yes, I have them dabble a puddle of water and dirt, so they can get the grit they need. I was hoping to find treats for the. Goslings, but I never got grapes tonight.
Does anyone know if strawberry...
Ya my ducks have all loved feeder fish too! In the bathtub I would plop a chunk of frozen peas and in no time they were scattered and heads were diving!
I will try cabbage and grapes both tonight, thanks!:thumbsup
