These Orpingtons are 4 weeks old, I’m wondering if there are any guesses on gender? I’ve been suspicious of two of them for awhile, but I know they’re young.
Photos 1-2 are Daisy
Photo 3 is Delilah
Photo 4-6 is Dolly. Dolly has much larger tail feathers than the other two.
Hello, I hatched this chicken (Puff) in 2018 after purchasing eggs locally. I’m just curious what she might be? Some sort of olive egger mix? I had 11 eggs in that batch, TEN were roosters. She was the only pullet and the only one with clean feet. She’s got dark feet, with yellow on the bottom...
Hi everyone,
I just put up premier1 no shock hen pen, and I want to cover it with hawk netting. This is where my girls will “free range” during the day, they still have a fully secure run and coop.
I’m going to start the netting on the roof of my coop and extend it out to the fencing. Does...
I bought this chick at a feed store, they said she’s a French blue copper maran from Hoovers. She doesn’t look like the pictures they have of them though. Since this picture, she’s gotten a few darker feathers. Is she still a blue maran? A different color?
Hello, I'm hoping to get some advice.
I've had chickens for 14 years, and raised probably 5 or 6 batches of chicks, mostly from feed stores. I've never really had issues, it's always gone well.
This year, I got Chocolate Orpingtons, Cream Legbars, and a Mottled Houdan. The Orpingtons are 2...
I have a chick that yesterday started having pasty butt. I’ve been checking her and cleaning her up. However, she’s acting pretty lethargic. Mostly hanging out under the brooder plate. She does eat and drink still, and I got some of the save a chick probiotic and added that to the water today...
Hello,
I am relatively new to gardening. I recently used grow bags to plant some lettuce, carrots, potatoes, strawberries, and onions. The potting soil I used was fertilized, but we’ve had a lot of rain and I read grow bags leak nutrients quickly. So my question is, is there a way to know when...
I'm looking for food for when I move my pullets in with my adult hens. Would this be suitable to keep everyone on long-term? I provide oyster shell for my hens.

Hello,
It’s been awhile since I’ve raised chicks. I just got some from the feedstore this morning. They said they were pretty cold when they came in. 2 of them are still pretty inactive. I can’t get them to drink water yet, and when they try to walk the can’t walk in a straight line. I’ve only...
Hi!
We’re thinking about moving to Wyoming but would be taking our chickens with us. I’m having trouble finding updated information on the ordinances for backyard chickens in Wyoming. I found that they’re allowed in Cheyenne but other than that I haven’t seen much. Does anyone know?
I have several Marans and olive eggers cockerels that I can't keep. I have black and grey ones, and they all have feathered feet. I am in Oregon but I am willing to drive a bit to find them a new home.
I have 11 Copper Marans and Olive Eggers. I am suspicious that several of them are boys, but I am really hoping I'm wrong on a few of them. They are just over 4 weeks old, and I know it may be a bit early to tell but at least one has started crowing already.

I have 11 chicks I hatched about a month ago, but at least one of them started crowing last week. I have marans and olive eggers, and I suspect about 5 are roosters. However, I was surprised at how early the crowing started and I wanted to know if that’s typical of marans? If they mature faster...
I hatched Marans and olive Eggers about a week ago, but I can’t tell who is which breed. They all look similar to me, black and gray/silverish and all but one has feathered feet. I do have pictures of a few of them that I’ve attached. Is there a way to distinguish the two breeds?
My last egg just hatched, and it seems to be having trouble getting up and walking. It’s let doesn’t look like it’s in a natural position. The toes are also a bit unnatural looking.
I just put 11 eggs into lockdown, Marans and olive Eggers. The aircells on the Marans look strange to me, and they’re so dark I can’t even tell if they’re developed or not. Thoughts?
Also, for lockdown I took the turner out, and I’m working on getting humidy up to 75%. Is that too high/low...
I think my air cells might be too small for where I’m at in the incubation period. Currently all of my eggs are on day 14. Is this too small? If it is, how do I change my humidity? Humidity has been between 30-45 percent for the most part.
