She's 4 to 5 months old. I noticed this shortly after I got her a couple weeks ago and she was getting pecked by others. I also thought of cleaning out the coop which hadn't been done in quite a while. Lot to clean up!
The guy I got her from told me to put warm saltwater in her eye before I...
Pretty sure my pullets ate the tin foil that was covering the water bucket 6 days ago. Long story! Anyway, how long until you'd eat the eggs after they ate tin foil? We haven't eaten any since then.

What the heck??? It's like the end tip of a chicken wing. I never know what I'm going to get when I crack open one of my girls' eggs! Anyone ever experienced this before? And no, we don't have a rooster.
Well one of my hens is off in the corner, mouth is constantly wide open, tail is down and bottom butt is pulsating. She's not interested in food. Should I just wait it out or what? I couldn't feel any egg.
Thanks,
Rob

These may be dumb questions. I've never had a cat before and I never thought I'd say I want one, but I've killed a lot of mice the past couple weeks, and I'm thinking an *outdoor* cat would save me a lot of time. Will just any ol' cat do and will the cat try eating my chickens that are in a...
Today is a great day! We just got our 1st egg! Not bad for a first one. Our RIR hens just turned 19 weeks yesterday. The lucky hen started her egg song this morning, so we thought this could be the day, and sure enough it was! It was even more special having my wife's mom and my wife's sister...
So I just bought and added a couple hens to the 3 I already have. Same breed, and about the same age (new ones may be a week or 2 younger--the ones I originally have will be 17 weeks tomorrow). They've been separated since Saturday afternoon, but Monday evening I put them altogether in a big...

This was just taken today. I've got 4 Rhode Island Reds, and I'm really starting to wonder if I've got a rooster or not. "She" looks like one, but doesn't have spurs...

Just started raising 4 RIR chicks on President's Day (February 20, 2012). They were born on Valentine's Day.
