Just naught a new bigger, better coop yesterday... It's expected to be here in 2 to 3 weeks around that. I have 2 chickens and I wanted to know if I should some light like Christmas lights or something like that in their run. I don't want to get heat off of it thoug... Any suggestions?
YAY! My White Leghorn just layed an egg in her nesting box today! I came home from school 20 minutes ago to let them free range and i see a small hard egg in her nest box. Its perfectly white. So happy, I knew all along that she would lay really soon! Cant wait for eggs to come. YAY!!!!!!
Winter and cold weather is coming, so I need to start planning. I have two chickens, White Leghorn and SLW. To keep the snow and drifts out I will put a clear tarp on their run not only for snow but so i can see them :) But, the bad thing about a tarp is thatit takes away a lot of ventalation...

My design is an A frame coop with a door...
So i want to redesign my coop that has two chickens and heres what i was thinking:
i could take all the tiles off and make an A frame on the grass and put the nesting box at the end of the coop and put tiles around the outside so no predators could dig in. Any ideas??? Heres my coop right now:

My two pullets are in a breezy, shaded area and they keep panting really hard!!! I gave them tons of strawberries, I misted them down a lot, and they keep panting!!! It's around 100 degrees today and the rest of this week, and today there is a little breeze but it's still really hot. There beaks...
