    Floor Egg!!

Ok, we have one silly lady who keeps laying in the dirt under the coop steeps. To my understudying, these eggs are not the safest to eat. We have 2 boxes for 6hens, which I think it enough. We have tried covering back in the hole she made to lay in,but she just digs it back. All the others...

    Moving?? !!!

Ok, so we sold our house and are moving. It will only be about 10-15miles (we have yet to find a new house) I'm not real sure the best way to move the girls. The real bummer is,they are 20wks and when we move in 6, I'm guessing they will have just started laying. We don't have animal...

    RIR?

So my RIRs are almost fully feathered, they only have a small area under them and their heads. The Australorps are so far behind its not funny. Will it mess up their relationship to move the RIR's to the coop and the Aussies later? They are all driving my nuts in the brooder and I can't wait...

    grit or no?

We have 2 week old chicks and I want to take them out to explore a bit in their run. Do I need to start providing grit for them, since they will be pecking at things out there?

my chicks are aprox 7days old and have been doing fine. At about 4 days we started petting them in the brooder and yesterday started taking them out for a min or 2 (depending on how they reacted). While holding one of the RIR today, it pooped on me.(no biggy) The poop looked supper liquid and...

    coop cloth

We just bought Hardware Cloth and started putting it up, but it seems very flimsy. My husband could tear it with his hand and cut easily with scissors. Is this really the right thing to use? Any suggestions?

    What and where

I am new to the site and plan on getting 3-5 birds in about a month. I have been reading for weeks and still can decide where to get our birds. I really don't like the idea of big box hatchery, but I am having a hard time finding eggs or chicks locally. I also don't know what breeds. I have...
