So... I got 6 pullets on 3/10 to add to my existing flock of 5. Some were laying, some just starting. All 11 are red sex links from the same farm and were born Aug/Sept 2014.
On the 11th, 22nd and 24th I got a soft shelled egg.

So I made the horizontal bucket waterer (love it!) and the pvc feeder to hopefully make my life easier... but the birds are getting feed on the ground. I thought this was a 'no mess' feeder?? I followed the instructions exactly. Is it perhaps the height of the bucket? One bird is much messier...

So I bought a tractor for our girls, no time to build our own. In the 'upstairs' do I need pine shavings on the floor or just in the boxes? My problem is the floor isn't solid, there's a slight gap between the boards for ventilation so pine shavings will just fall through and blow away, help...
