I don't know the excact age of it, but its around 20 weeks of age. This egg comes from one of two of my easter eggers and this was not the ones that I figured would lay the first. Anyway, here are the pics, I am so excited, but they chose to lay it on a day that I was sick, lol

Its day 18. I just candled the eggs and am putting the incubator on lock down. I know the humidity needs to be higher for hatching. Is it 50-60%? I have used the dry hatching method so I have run at 35% or there about for the whole hatching thus far. Need an answer soon. Thanks!

Imagine this as your situation. You want to get a simple flock of hatchery stock birds. You want a certain amount of roos and hens and you want them to be hearty and shaped right( according to breed ) What hatchery that ships chicks do you use and why?

I am planning on doing incubating eggs as my senior project for school next year. I wanted to do a test run to make sure I could do it before I started recording any data. I have two more weeks on this hatch so I need help deciding what is going to go in next. Any suggestions will be...
I have been trying to get rid of 16 roosters for weeks now. Last week somebody put me on to craiglist.org. So I posted an ad up there to see what it would do and within 20 minutes I had recieved two messages from some who were interested. I have over 20 messages from different people in my...
I candled my eggs tonight as it was day 5 of the incubation. I first candled a super market egg and then the eggs I was hatching and as near as I could tell, all were fertile. Some though, were iffy. I couldn't really see veins but they definitely were not clear. Is day 5 too early or is it...
I used to keep my flock in the coop and they were eating fifty pounds of chick feed in one weeks time. Now I let them more or less free range in this huge horse pasture and they don't eat hardly any of the food I put out for them. This works really well for me as I no longer have to stop by...
I have a flock that consists of a lot of roosters( 19 ) and 10 tens. The average age is around 12-13 weeks. I am looking to add new ten week old hens into this group. What is the best way to do this to avoid fights as much as possible? Thanks

I am in the process of getting my LG up to steam and ready to hatch a shipment of 32 eggs. The temp is going how I want it, but the humidity is wanting to hold steady at 54 or so. Is this too high for the early going? If so, how do I drive it down?
NOTE: I have not added any water

My hatching eggs arrived today and are still in the box. They appear to be in good shape as all of the shrink wrap did its job during shipment. My question is...now what? Do I need to leave the eggs packaged up in the box for 48 hours to let them settle or take them out? Do I need to candle...
I did not see this happen with my own eyes but my dad was able to witness the event when he was at the coop one morning. He had just turned them out and the chickens had all ran outside. Most staid near the coop but some strayed out torwards the trees. He said it looked up and saw a bird...
This is a breed that catches my eye everytime I see one. It is absolutely stunning. I never liked feather footed chickens or asian-origin birds prior to my delightful experience with my packing peanut light brahmas. How is its temperment and productivity as far as roo growth, maturity, and...
