I just sort of fell into getting this frizzle. I've wanted a frizzle for some time. They told me she was 12 weeks old but she is significantly smaller than my buff orpingtons. She is the same size as my 5 week old silkie mix's. How big do frizzles get, I honestly don't know much about the breed!
This is my first time owning chickens. Here in Utah the winters can get pretty cold and ugly. Do the chickens stay in their coop all winter long or will they venture out into the snow? What should I expect when it comes to winter time and my hens?
We picked up 2 chicks last night to add to our already existing hens. We put them in their own little place with their heating lamp and food and water. Nothing different than what we did when our hens were chicks. We woke up to one dead chick and the other just died. I have no idea what went...

I deeply love my chickens, but I want then outside and they do too. They are about 5 weeks old now and to me they look feathered enough. I live in Utah so we have super bipolar weather. Today we have a high of 50. It still gets down in the 40s at night. I've taken them out during the warm sunny...
My chicks are between 4 and 5 weeks old and I brought them outside for the first time today. They seemed to enjoy themselves pecking at the grass and weeds and what not. My question is what kind of snacks or treats can I give them? They attack everything that looks like a worm.
I've wanted backyard chickens for a while, I've done a bit of research and finally decided I was ready. I bought two buff orpingtons today and am looking forward to watching them grow!
Is there any advice that anyone can give me on raising these two cute (hopefully) girls?
