I have a chicken that cannot physically nest, when she tries to she flops over, she has done this always, she gets mounted by the rooster but has never laid an egg, she just insists on laying on the other hens eggs so I built a log for her to lean against in order for her to be able to do that...
I'm a bit perplexed as my pullets rarely will eat the veggies I through to them but will eat up all meats, I'd rather they ate more veggie than meat but it doesn't seem the case. Any suggestions???
So I was told on this site that the chick I bought as a Ameruacana is really a Golden Laced Wyndotte, yet she lays light blue eggs, so me thinks she is a cross. Any thoughts please.
I have six chicks that are free range in my back yard in the city in FL, the grass is poor as it has such a sandy soil and months before we even thought of getting chickens my hubs sprayed for insects a couple of times so not much for the chicks to peck at. I`m concerned even though I feed well...

How can I tell the difference between the two? They sold as Ameraurcanas but I have a funny feeling they are EE. They are tan and red and darker stripes with dark blueish legs.
So we live in the city and have a small grassy lawn with the coop of chicks on the edge against the house, needing to mow what shall I do with chicks, think they will handle the noise in the coop alright?
Is it possible for chicks to get to much sand in their craws, if that's the word I mean? I live in FL and it seems my chicks have a pouch of sand on their chests as they scratch and peck in the sandy soil so much.
This is the coop my hubs built me, and as we live in south FL I am glad that it is so open, yet maybe it is to open and the chickens will feel insecure? I actually had him build storm shutters we can quickly screw on and off, but feel my chickens will feel unprotected. Am I thinking to much...
I bought chicks from the feed store here in FL. Two were labeled "Ideals", I think this is the farm they are from, correct? How will I know what breed they are? They are a fuzzy yellow leading to pale yellow as they are getting older and kind of aggressive.
Hi all feather loving friends. I`m new and never raised a flock before and have 3 4 week old chicks, I lost one today due to human error and am heart broken. My question is, I want to get another to round out the flock but the chicks at the feedstore are younger then the ones I have, should I...
