#10 this chick is light/cream in color with a slightly darker/orangeish head and light patterning. She reminds me of how her mom looked as a chick (below)
Mom: yellow with darker near the...

All of them are tuxedo/pied of some kind
#6 is very red in comparison, I'm guessing rosetta/tibetan
#7 is darker
#8 is also darker
#9 is almost greyish, light and silvery in comparison...

#4 & #5, the darker one I am assuming is just pharoah!
#5 is lighter than any phraroahs I've hatched so I'm assuming they'll be more red or lighter in color but of similar pattern
Parents and other chicks are here: https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/quail-chick-colors.1673548
Chick #1 has a red eye shine, and appears to be more white than the other two
Chick #2 is mostly white with some faint spots on the head/butt so I am assuming it's a double pied/"A&M"...
Hello! Of the about ~30 eggs we set, we got 10 wiggly happy babies! I was really hopeful for some fun colors but honestly I'm awe-struck by the variety we got! And a little bit confused... can anyone help me figure out what we got? Of course I know it'll be much easier once they're feathered in...
Well, it's officially lockdown, waiting for the humidity checker to recalibrate to see what I gotta raise it to, but after setting 15 eggs we have a drumroll please ... Two. I candled them all and it was obvious, 13 looked clear, you could see the yolk floating in the white, and these two were...
Photo just as an explanation to the idea. I have a bunch of old "pieces" to a rabbit hutch, it's sturdy hardwood & hardware cloth secured into a "tube" (12-16" tall, 24" wide, and 5-6' long). It basically looks like this below but longer & hardware cloth all around. I have roofing I can add to...
I'm gonna be met with a bunch of funny looks talking about my "grey bird" as we lovingly nicknamed him, as he decided to no longer be grey lol as you can see in the chick photos he was very grey as a chick and had matured into all of this pretty reddish color, most red on chest among the tuxedo...
And by tiny I mean 4 birds :') the feed store isn't selling any more this year, and there's only one other person nearby whose selling them for $15-20 a bird which to me seems too much, I swear it used to be $5 for a pharaoh. I can't currently justify $140 on a few hens right now unfortunately...
Hello! My babies are getting all grown up way too fast like quail often do, and while everyone is still being peaceful and so sweet (honestly the most mellow quail I have ever owned.) I am more curious every day who's boys & girls. I figure at least one is not feather sexable so I am fine...
Hello! I very much just have 3 pet quail currently but I would love nothing more than to breed them (probably next spring). We started with a little rooster who we got from the humane society as a stray, he was a dusty golden color who faded to a sort of platinum white.
We incubated some eggs...
Hello! I rescued this stray Coturnix from the humane society a few months back, "Mr. Pretty Lady" (thought it was a hen, its a cock lol) was golden when we first got him, but has since molted out into a steely-white. Not quite as pure white as Coturnix I've had in the past.
Some of the family...
We got Rudie (Rudy the Ruby Red Rooster originally, but we changed it to Rudie in crossing fingers for a girl) from a feedstore "Assorted Bantams" bin, straight comb, yellow legs, dark red feathers, I am assuming bantam RIR/Rhode Island as other options seemed too exotic for WilCo to stock...
Hello! It's been a long time, but I need some poultry advice! I'm taking a quail home today who seems to be fairly happy and healthy, however she absolutely has mites.
The mites are believed to be northern fowl mites, they're nestled up in the feather bases in the area under her vent. Our vet...
I've done some light reading on MG... extremely saddened. Our ladies are getting old now, we've been losing some here and there this year (unfortunate timing with a lot of other awful things happening) from different causes, and after everything seemed to have settled down... one of our younger...
I have a hen who has consistently laid soft shelled eggs during these past few months I've owned her. I'm not breeding currently because of the cold weather here but come warmer weather in spring, is there any tips on what I could do?
I've been giving their breeding enclosure extra red grit and...
So I've sort of got an interesting breeding plan for this next year, I've found myself with extra damascenes as well as birmingham rollers. My plan this year is to breed an almond (a pure almond, I currently only have a spread almond cock) which should be fairly straight forward, I'm getting a...
I'm officially aged out of 4H now but still very close to my 4H pigeon group and will be training to be a youth leader when I get the chance. Our local fair just passed and the judge loved the kid's knowledge but said they could use some work on genetics and colour knowledge.
Thats where I...
We just went out about an hour ago to get an Ancona duck to accompany our single silver appleyard duck, but since being out she basically hasn't stopped quacking. Will she quiet down? Should we look into muscovies? Do they quack as loud? Our appleyard only really makes noise when we're playing...
We have a silver appleyard duckling, between a week or two old who started getting dark spots on his feet? We thought it was bruising maybe from running around the house every once in a while with us, but it seemed uniform? We've never had ducks before and when looking up silver appleyard ducks...
