I have a newly hatched chick from a cross of a black orpington roo and black ameraucana hen. The chick's down appears to be blue not black. I have read that black x black yields 100% black. Sooo, can someone share their knowledge of how this came to be? Thanks in advance!
Purchased as a black orpington. Has the black feathers with pretty green sheen, black legs without feathers, four toes and looks to be developing a beard/muff. Now unsure what she is. Any ideas?

My Dad has a 12 wk old Brahma cockerel who is not walking, poop is greenish but is eating and drinking like normal. He said it uses its wings to move around. The cockerel let's Dad move it's legs and doesn't act as if it is in pain but can not stand up or walk. Is this Mariks disease? Any hope...

I have a raised coop, 6x6 with slant roof. Will have 8 chickens in coop. Plan on building a large run off of coop. I live in Louisiana so lots of heat and humidity. What would you recommend to use in coop and run, construction sand? Litter? And if litter, what type? Thanks in advance for all...
