We have some ducks and chicken, and 2 of them were injured today, but we're not sure by what. It happened during daylight hours, towards the end of the day. One was a buff orpington (about 3 1/2 or 4 months old)...it had one of it's wings ripped off. The other was a Cayuga duck, about 5 months...
I have a trio of muscovies that I got earlier this summer. They ewre laying when I got them, and stopped a couple of days afterwords. About 3 weeks later, they started to lay again. We just assumed that they had gotten stressed and when the felt more comfortable they started to lay again.

What happens if you remove the chicks a bit too early from the incubator/hatcher after they hatch?? Not when they are still all wet, but if they were not quite ready to come out? (and, yes, I realize that would not be the ideal situation )
I'm going to set some muscovey eggs in a couple of days - my first time incubating duck eggs! I have read a few things about turning duck eggs by hand vs using an automatic turner...which is better, or does it matter? And if you turn by hand, why?
